I've ridden the bus that drops off on the 3B side of the stadium. The route that bus takes goes through the ghetto. Did not know any better the first night, and did not make that trip again the second night.

don’t know if it was Anacostia but thats the hood i kept hearing about to stay clear and far away from when i lived in maryland years ago…i think it’s located in the other side of the bridge.

Nats/Padres game is over, in the 6th inning. Everyone’s being calmly asked to leave the ballpark. Some fans too shaken up to exit.

Back in 2006, I attended my high school alma mater's annual playing of its archrival - the Anniston Bulldogs. Oxford (my hometown) was more or less gentrified while Anniston was/is a glorified shithole. There was a gang-related shooting right outside the stadium, on the Anniston side, in the third quarter. Three shots rang out and chaos reigned for about half an hour as everyone tried to figure out what happened as the paramedics treated the victims on the scene.

The game continued to its conclusion after a small delay.

I agree
And if this doesn’t work we need to send in more forces to clean these places up

I’m not a liberal at all, but to say this isn’t different that a regular inner city shooting is pretty obtuse.

Probably a few Confederate statues around someplace.
Once they are gone, folks sanity will return.

Poor citizens suffering from white privilege.

You’re making the area around Nats stadium sound like a war zone. It’s extremely gentrified. Is there crime? Absolutely. But drive bys in that immediate area aren’t a normal thing at all in the last few years.

The area around nats park is like the French quarter. Inside it actually seems very nice. But you start going 5-10+ blocks in the wrong direction and you’re in for a bad time.

Two teenage girls literally murdered a man in a carjacking earlier this year right outside the stadium. It was very high profile on this site. 3 young women were just arrested outside the stadium for doing the exact same thing earlier this week except luckily this time nobody ended up dead.

I’m born and raised within 2 miles of that area so you can go frick yourself.

If you go across the river to Anacostia you’re in for a bad time. Comparing Navy Yard to the French Quarter is absurd

ETA u mad

I’ve been going to nats games literally the entire existence of the franchise. I’ve seen that area grow personally. It’s nice. But crime travels. And nats park is about as close to the bad areas of DC as you can get in terms of a high tourist area. I’m not surprised this happened there.

Nats park is literally on the banks of the anacostia river
