So how many bans has this melt produced? I saw one last night (wished a suicide bomber would blow up MMP)

I think the criticism of him as a bad in game manager is legit. He is excellent before the game and in making pre-game decisions based on analytics, which is exactly why he was hired. He really needs strong bench coaches and a great number 2 guy or else he looks clueless and lifeless attempting to make a real time decision. He had pre-determined that he was going to pull pitchers before the game started at a certain point in his mind and he rarely deviates from that to a fault. He also doesn't have his guys' back as much as he should in game situations.

He shouldn’t have pulled Greinke.
I think you can build a better argument for leaving him in and losing than pulling him and losing.
You know what Greinke gave you in six and a third compared to the unknown you’ll get from your bullpen.
Also, (if you can justify pulling Greinke in that situation) why you don’t go to Cole right after you pull Greinke is beyond me.
Cole is your best option, and although he’s on short rest, you’re not pitching him for nine innings. He just needs to get you 2 and two thirds innings, or close to it.
So many bad decisions by Hinch, but I’m still a fan despite his over-managing in this postseason.
We will always have 2017 and 2020.
Long live the DAT!

Yeah dude we'll be very very good for a long time, but this was the chance to win another. 107 wins, best team in the league, and home field advantage, which didn't play to our advantage. We had a great opportunity and we blew it. Sucks. Ready to have a good off season down. Hopefully we have good replacements for Cole.

All the criticisms have been laid out by other people already but I don't think they win another one, I want to be wrong. They will be good, in the playoffs, maybe they get hot at the right time but I think the window closes here for this championship era.

A big challenge is how will we stay under the luxary tax. Salary estimates have us at 208 million already for arbitration and that's only with 18 players. Thank God Alvarez, Urquidy and Tucker are on cheap deals right now.

Well that's not true. They're already favorites for next season. They have at least 2 more really good years before the roster faces some real significant changes.

Yeah even without Cole they will have great starting pitching because you have LMJ coming back plus José Urquidy more than likely cracking the rotation. It would be great to have Cole, but not 100% necessary. And you probably shed Reddick to boot. I am sure they will also find a diamond in the rough guy again too to supplement the 4/5 spot as well.

Honestly, I would love to trade Correa. Long term he is the odd guy out anyway. He will be the next to don a Boras hat after the last contract year is over and he is always hurt.

Agreed, show some Martinez.

I agree that this is probably the best regular season team they'll ever have, but you're right about getting hot. If this postseason showed anything, it's that all you gotta do is get in the dance.
You keep winning division titles and you take your chances in the crapshoot that is postseason baseball. This year has freed me from ever giving a shite about HFA ever again .

I would agree that they are 'favorites' but I just don't know if it will translate into another title. I hope I'm wrong
Also LMJ has no business being in the starting rotation if his body can't make it through the whole season next year. He is the closer the Astros deserve.
