I don't understand why Texas isn't in the hunt for a BCS Championship every year. They've got all the money in the world, they're the top program in a football crazy state and everyone wants to live in Austin. I know everyone recruits Texas, but my God, you should be able to land most of the top recruits in the state. Seems to me you do that, you are on your way to a BCS. Hell if LSU or Bama would have seasons like the last three or four years the Longhorns have had, the fans would go apeshit.

I know Florida couldn't match every offer that Texas threw at him
There is no amount of money that Texas would/could reasonably offer a HC that schools like Alabama and Florida could not match. Yes, the Texas AD makes more revenue, but its not like they make double what every one else makes or that they would offer every penny to the FB coach. Unless Muschamp really wants to go back to Austin or Florida refuses to match (different from being able to match), I see no reason for him to leave.
Frankly Texas needs to find the Mich State Nick Saban or Utah Urban Meyer not the current ones.

I concur. It makes no sense to me for him to leave Florida. Texas would be better off to find the next big coach and back the money truck up to his door.

I can't get over those arse-kickings. God, if Alabama beat us 55-17 one year, then 63-21 the next, Les Miles and his family would have to enter the witness protection program. shite, people would be hollering for LSU to sell buildings to buy out his contract.

The number of UT fans ready to oust Mack grew with each beat down by OU, peaking after the 5th straight loss in 2004 and had he lost another game that year or not gotten to the BCS, his seat would have Chernobly hot. but after losing 12-0 to OU, they won out, won that Rose Bowl over Michigan and won the NC they next year. Starting with 2005 he won 4 of the next 5 over OU. 2004-2009 was easily Mack's most successful period at UT. Since then however has been a disaster. Mack looks old and it is time for him to step down, but I don't think that will happen until a new AD is in place.

What UT fan wouldn't love DeLoss? UT has made bank under his stewardship.
While it's true that the program is making a LOT of money under Doddds.
Money ? Wins
Wins = Championships
so by the transitive property
$$ ? Championships

True but it's deeper than JUST that. How about two, that's right TWO conference championships in 14 years. People talk about the Big XII like it's normally a two horse race, to me it doesn't look like it.

2010-2011 Net Incomes
Texas $24,317,815.00

To be fair that's not Football revenues, but overall Athletic Department Net Income. It's a little closer when you look at just football.

They'll end up having to overpay Art Briles

You will note I said Revenue, not Net Income
School Athletic Department Revenue
Texas $150,295,932.00
Ohio State $131,815,819.00
Alabama $123,910,432.00
Florida $123,008,257.00
Michigan $122,486,490.00
Penn State $116,118,026.00
LSU $106,421,671.00

Again, there is no amount of money that Texas reasonably could/would pay a FB coach that Florida could not match.
ETA: the differences in NI would not be the deciding factor.

People's attitude are changing . I work with a lot of Texas Exes who are calling for Mack's job . These same people would have backed him for Governor a couple of years ago . One said he's not renewing his season tickets .

DeLoss will retire in summer of 2014. Why then? Because he gets some type of 7-figure employment bonus for lasting until then. So what does this mean?
Deloss doesn't have to be AD to receive the 1 mil bonus, he just has to be employed by the university in some manner such as "consultant" on that date and I believe its Jan 1, 2014.
