also the difference between Crosby and Ovie has never been more apparent.

The 115 career goal edge Ovie has? Or the fact that Crosby's center is the third best player in hockey and not just really good? The difference between the Caps and Pens has always been the difference in Malkin and Backstrom.

Oh, and obsessed much? Yeesh, I can email you a photo to put by your bedside.

Ovie is playing like dogshit right now. As is Backstrom. The Caps right now have three major issues:

1) The penalty kill has been beyond terrible
2) The first line, especially the top two defensive pair, have been pretty bad in the first four games
3) The team is trying to install its 4th system in two years, without a preseason

It looks like the team is thinking instead of playing right now. I am shocked -- SHOCKED!!! -- a Canadian broadcast is slamming Ovie. That is unheard of for the Canadian media to jump on Ovie to promote Sid, while ignoring the Russian who is actually the Penguins best player.

At least got a f'n point tonight. Needed to get off the schneid. Still in deep trouble, but its at least a good sign the team rallied from an 0-2 hole to get a loser point. And as crappy as the Caps have played, they are only 3 points out of the 8th spot.

Baloo he gets under your "skin" it seems. But the Caps have no direction right now, in my opinion. Oates needed a full camp. Will he get a full year?

sorry about that i saw this morning it was a blow out...but historically it's always been a good game, specially if Lou was in net...for years it seemed the Ducks were his Achilles heel.

I always have detailed posts. Can doesn't get me mad, it's like having our own version of Don Cherry on the board. He's just a buffoon I don't take seriously for anything but comic effect. I just imagine him wearing a ridiculous suit and yelling a lot.

As for the Caps, I am ticked about how crappy they are playing right now. I only watched the final 10 minutes of the 3rd period and OT. But the Jets game got me so pissed that I still haven't calmed down from it. In back to back games, the Caps were outscored in the second period 7-0. And outshot by about 20. It was two of the worst periods of hockey I've ever seen.... and I watch the Flames play all the time.

But the way the hockey press jumps on Ovie is obnoxious as hell. It's just because they are so investing in sucking off Crosby. Though Ovie isn't helping this season -- he has been terrible these first four games. Just terrible. But not as bad as the Carlzner, who have been on ice for something like 12 goals allowed, making them the worst pairing in the NHL right now.

Yeah Ovie isn't the issue - just watched the game on the NHL app how many f'ing breakaways are the caps going to give away this year??? Can Holtby get some help?

Baloo your just sore because your team sucks so bad right now...you'll snap out of it when Ovie and the boys do...as far as the buffoon comment i'll let it pass as you're an admin and i kind of like the idea that you think you know more about hockey than i do...

Neuvirth was in net, but you're right. He kept the team in the game. I've been watching the Stars a lot because... local TV... and I actually think the Stars have been far worse defensively than the Caps, it's just that Lehtonen has been playing at Roy-like levels and the Caps goalies have been ordinary until last night.

Behind the Net hasn't updated for this season yet so I don't know the Corsi stats, but doing the eyeball test, the Caps have actually been outplaying teams at even strength. They've been generating chances and getting good possession. But my God, have their special teams been horrible. Just f'n horrible.

In a short season, the power play will be the difference in the standings. The Caps cannot play special teams this poorly. The Caps have allowed 17 goals, worst in the NHL, but 8 on the power play also worst in the NHL. Take away power plays, and the Caps have been outscored 6-9. With them, 9-17.

Yikes.

Wyshinski was spot on yesterday. Ovi-Crosby rivarly is dead and buried. NBC has been promoting/marketing Crosby with Giroux for a good reason.
