Jarome Iginla ties it on the PP for his first goal as a Penguin, one timer from Kunitz.

Ovechkin looks like his old self again. So do Backstrom and Green for that matter.

Caps-Canes is insane. 5-3 after 2. The Caps scored 4 goals in the 2nd on 7 shots. They have 11 shots on the game. Backstrom has 4 assists, all of them primaries.

Ovie has 2 goals, giving him 20 for the year. Look who's now tied for 3rd in the NHL in goals scored?

Gonna take a miracle.

Fleury relieved Vokoun in mid 2nd, looked solid, good to get him some action now that he's healthy again.

Well, the road trip is over. In 7 games (one at home), the Caps went 5-1-1. They now have 36 points in 36 games, almost entirely wiping out that brutal 2-8-1 start.

The Isles win means the Caps are 3 points out of 8th with a game in hand over the Isles. But even bigger, the Caps are now 2 points out of 1st place in the Southeast with TWO games in hand against Winnipeg. Waiting for playoff odds to update, but I'm willing to bet that for the first time all year, the Caps odds are over 50%.

Huge win.

7 out of the last 10 at home. This past stretch was crucial. Now let's see if McPhee makes any moves tomorrow. I doubt he does.

And that's what tipped me off that the Dallas ownership isn't interested in keeping the local fans on board. You don't trade a fan favorite for a rental, especially when your team isn't playoff material in the first place.

Ott was a fan favorite but he was just a role player. So if the Stars are moving, why were they pushing so hard to be moved out of the Pacific division and into a CST division? And Stars management was pushing for this realignment more than any other team. Doesn't make since they would push for that change and then move to the Pacific.

And as for Gigliardi (sp) not being local, he does a lot of real estate development work in Dallas and is here several times a month anyway. So while not a local, he is pretty close.
