Its tough to compare a Heavyweight's career to a Welterweight's career. IMO their is no such thing as the GOAT in boxing. Too many different weight classes. All that said, Floyd's all time great accuracy and defense makes him by default ONE of the Greatest of All Time. Floyd is an old school fighter stuck in a new school era where most fans think two guys beating the hell out of each other all night is the definition of boxing. If Floyd fought in the 60s, 70s or 80's, he would be more appreciated

Floyd is so good and makes it look so easy some people don't appreciate what he's doing. It's boring because it's too easy for him.

Not even close. Half of mayweaters win are because he knew he had won the score card and put it on cruise control. Ali went out there tryin to beat people's arse. The one occasion where he didn was the rope-a-dope, and that was still much better that mayweather.

I have to respectfully disagree. There is one clear pound-for-pound GOAT in boxing. It's Sugar Ray Robinson. This is not open to debate.

Ali fought the best of the best. While Floyd dodged Pac-Man and his biggest fight to date that I can remember was an out of his prime De la Hoya. So I can't give Floyd his full credit even though his record is still impressive.

You think today's fighters dish out and take more punishment than "old school" fighters?. . .

If Floyd fought in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, everything would be different. He wouldn't make nearly as much money, he'd have to fight much more often, and IMO the competition would be stiffer. His skill set and work ethic would make him one of the greats in any era, though.

While I don't agree that Mayweather > Ali, is calling Ali anything but the GOAT "bashing" him?

ETA: Because I don't think he's the GOAT.

There have been numerous posts and threads lately that have flat out dismissed Ali.

Disagreeing with his GOAT status is fine if you can defend your argument. Saying that he would get destroyed today is something else...

Aaron Pryor, Arguello, and a young DeLa Hoya beats Mayweather. Chavez probably destroys him.

Frankie Randall and Mayweather would've been a great fight.

Mayweather is nowhere near a technician that Whitaker was either.

I'm not here to argue over greatest all time, but Tyson in his prime is the scariest mother fricker ever.

It could be argued that Tyson never reached his prime/full potential with all his personal life problems. That would just make it freakier to think what could have been

Sonny Liston in his prime just rose from the dead to laugh his arse off at this.

In his prime tyson is the scarier fighter to me. Liston had a hammer for a knockoug punch, but Tyson was a perfect blend of speed and strength.
