If marketed correctly, we will think of Conor as an American vs the evil undefeated Russian.....This can get 2 million ppv’s if done around Christmas.

What an odd way to sell the fight.

The fight will have no problem to sell.
And while I don't doubt Conors motivation, it's hard to imagine the guy Not looking at this as peanuts, after getting that boxing money

It would be epic if this fight took place in Moscow or in some big stadium in Russia. But there's no way Dana let's this happen anywhere but down the street from UFC headquarters in Vegas.

Khabib is the absolute counter to conor. I want to see that fight more than any; as a hardcore mma fan, I'd pay more money to see khabib-conor. When anyone talks about conor's weaknesses and what it would take to exploit them; they talk about the style khabib is one of the GOATs at employing, smothering wrestling with a relentless highly effective take down game. Khabib has mostly only gotten lit up on the feet when he has decided to stand because he's tired, and Conor inst the type that is going to outlast him. Daniel Cormier has told crazy stories about khabib doing shite to him he did not expect; his wrestling is no joke.

I'd be scared to bet this fight bc conor's punchers chance, but if I had a gun to my head, I'm going with Khabib.

Conor has bigger fights that are possible I think though, I don't get why he pursues this fight given the match up. I would gain ridiculous respect for him if he fought khabib next.

I wonder if Dillon Danis will be a big help to Conor in training. Hard to imagine him getting to parity on the ground.

Khabib already showing mental weakness. He will overthink this whole thing and crumble to the left hand.

Idk. Conor is a rare breed and Khabib doesn't have great defense

Conor's lost a fight, Khabib hasn't lost a round..

Good luck with that. Lesnar only got about $6 million for his return fight in 2016.

Watching how Conor picked apart Nate and Eddie, I'm very curious how Khabib gets inside for take down attempts without getting caught. I expect a lot of kicks right up the middle from Conor, and knees too, looking to catch Khabib coming in.

I'm not so sure. Look back to the McGregor / Chad Mendes fight. Yes, Conor won the fight and finally put Mendes away at the very end of the 2nd round, but Mendes got a few takedowns (4, I think) and spent a good bit of the 2nd round on top of McGregor.

Link to a vimeo replay of that fight:

LINK

Conor defended some of those takedown attempts, but Mendes still had a good bit of success taking him down. And if Mendes had that much success, I have to think Khabib (who is bigger and better) should have similar to better luck taking the fight to the ground. And I doubt he'll fade the way Mendes appeared to do.

That was 3 years ago, but I question how much Conor has practiced takedown defense since then. Undoubtedly some to prep for Aldo, Eddie & Nate, but then probably next to nothing for several months as he prepped for Mayweather. And since then, he's had numerous distractions (distracted by newfound wealth, reports of dust-ups-- like him allegedly hitting a mobster back home, the legal issues in NY, and so on). As good as he is, that level of distraction can't help but impact him mentally and soften the chip on his shoulder that he had as a hungry up-and-comer.

I like Conor and definitely don't rule him out, but I agree with Pendulum's post a little above mine: Conor has a puncher's chance, but if he can't snipe Khabib on the way in, Khabib is likely to get him down and wear him out.

No one outside of the Mma bubble have ever heard of khabib. No way Khabib should make more than Diaz did. Nate is recognizable and can sell promos. Khabib has the personality of a wet blanket. The Ppv will sell because of mcg but I don’t see how it will be as successful as the Diaz ppvs.
