ERA down to 1.51. Cy Young leader, IMO. I know that’s not popular....

Unless the idiot sports writers punish him for a lack of wins like they did Verlander. He was the better pitcher in 2016 but Porcello had a shiny 22-4 record.

So the AL playoff field is setting up interestingly with regard to the trade deadline. Barring a total collapse on someone's part...the playoff field is pretty clear in mid June.
Red Sox
Yankees
Astros
Mariners
At 20+ games over .500, those teams are near locks. In the Central, Cleveland is only 5 games above .500 and 3 games up on a surprising Tigers team. But it seems unlikely that they'd knock of the Tribe.
So suddenly we're set up where we don't have teams looking to add parts for a playoff push but teams that can potentially anticipate who their playoff matchups will be and craft their roster with that in mind.

As discussed in our fantasy thread... Tyler Chatwood with 5 more BB today in 5 IP, currently has a BB/9 of 8.30.
The all-time worst that I see for a qualified starter is former Yankee great Tommy Byrne with 8.22 BB/9 in 1949.

Detroit has put themeselves in a tough spot. Do they try to challenge even without Miggy or become sellers at the deadline?
I think they'll end up selling anyway. Shane Greene has been good and they can probably get a decent return for Fulmer although I'm sure they'll ask for a King's ransom.

Stole one there. Everyone around us is wondering why Morrow wasnt in there

You mean you don't trust Justin Wilson in the 9th of a run game? We did everything humanly possible to lose that game.

Had Bass warming up too. Guess Morrow was just not going to pitch Game 1. Sucks because Strop was unhittable as usual

Rangers look like they are trading someone today. Their beat writers don’t know details yet, but they are being kept away from the clubhouse right now. That’s very rare and only happens when a trade is going down.
Could be a Hamels blockbuster, could be a secondary minor trade.

We're going to talk to #TexasRangers GM Jon Daniels in about 10 minutes so something major is going down today.

Sources: #DBacks, #Orioles have been in contact about a possible Manny Machado trade this season. Dialogue remains open between the clubs. This is viewed as due diligence on Arizona’s part as the team’s needs become clear. @MLB @MLBNetwork
