Stunning: The Atlanta Braves are paying the entire remaining salary of #SFGiants reliever Mark Melancon, who earns $14 million this year and $14 million in 2020 .

Guess that defeats the not spending aspect, just curious if it will impact who they go after in FA or resign this winter

The Braves are paying the corpse of Darren O'Day 9 million for showing up to Spring Training and then just vanish. They will have plenty of money.

Donaldson, O'Day, Keuchel, Swarzak, Martin, McCann, Tomlin, and Joyce will clear about $62 million.

Teheran has a option and might not get picked up(13 mil). Gausman made 9.3 this year and might get released instead of arb4. Both of Flowers and Markakis have options that might not be picked up.

The payroll is over $140 mil right now. Higher than its ever been, so I doubt it will be a factor in resigning Donaldson and bringing in a starter or whatever else the team might need(catcher).

Donaldson, Dallas, Tomlin, and McCann all seem like they would be resigned imo

Donaldson-yes
McCann-definitely if he doesnt retire
Tomlin-probabaly unless someone foolishly gives him more than the small amount he deserves.
keuchel-Maybe. I dunno. Depends on who they think will be in the rotation next year. Soroka/Fried/Folty probably all have a spot locked up, and they might have another rookie like Ian Anderson take a spot, then who knows for the 5th. Keeping one of Tehera, Keuchel, Gausman is plausible, but maybe they want to throw tons of money at Cole?

Couldn't see Cole but 20 million for 2-3 more years of Dallas seems fine. They probably want someone like him to help the younger pitchers as well.
Figure of they let Nick walk would they go after someone in FA or give a kid a shot first. McCann will come back, didn't he say he was having fun again in an interview?
