Pirates talking to them about Nate

@Ken_Rosenthal: Source: Michael Young changes mind, willing to waive no-trade clause for #RedSox. Only was willing to go to #Rangers yesterday.

@JonHeymanCBS: dbacks, pirates dont seem to be aggressively pursuing norris. chance stros keep him. not big impetus to move -- $3M salary

I hope I'm right.
I was the only person that said Norris would stay put

Yea, Luhnow knows he doesnt have to trade him this year
Posted on 7/31/13 at 10:37 am to Smokedawg
They'll play it out until close to the deadline and pull the trigger.
Every year Norris stays an Astro he'll command less trade value since that's just another year of control lost.

Stop driving up the price, you bastards. You don't need Norris. We do.

Why? He's not very good. He's had one season with an ERA under 4 (3.77) This year he's at 3.93 and very inconsistent. He doesn't last long in games. If the Stros can get a good deal, I'll be happy to take it.

We'll drive up the price if we damn well please!
I think we're moving past the point of stocking prospects and are looking for a AAA'er who can help us next year.

I want to move Norris to closer.
I think he'll have much more value as a late inning reliever than as a starter

Meh, I wouldn't be opposed to that but I don't place much value on a closer.
Posted on 7/31/13 at 10:49 am to CQQ
Well he wouldn't be a closer if he was traded to another team. Much like Veras. He was our closer, but he'll be an 8th inning guy with the Tigers.
Same with Bud.
What's Bud's nickname? "5 inning Bud."
Well, you shorten his outings and all of a sudden he's a much better pitcher than his stats show

Doesn't he average 6 though?
Posted on 7/31/13 at 10:53 am to tduecen
Yeah he averages 6, but his problem is he always has that one bad inning where he runs his pitch count up...that has traditionally been the 5th inning for him.

I think everyone is getting interested now!!

That would be a downgrade to every SP we already have. Can't see this happening at all.
