That's the thing, outside of Tampa no other team in the east pitches. Toronto easily has the next best staff. All of the teams outside of Tampa can hit very well. Toronto has the best combo of both

Yes that's fair, but the Dodgers had the lead and gained those great players, yet they failed. Same goes fore the Marlins last year too.
Besides Kemp and Kershaw the Dodgers have guys who are either completely washed up(Beckett, Hanley) or in steep decline(Adrian, Grenkie). The Blue Jays have guys mostly in their primes, no comparison IMO

I disagree. Dickey is moving to AL East. He will come back to earth. JJ will be injured by May. Buerle sucks. Romero sucked last year. I'll give you Morrow. He has filthy stuff. That is a lot of question marks for this "top 5 staff".
I like some of the pieces of their lineup like Reyes, Lawrie, Joey Bats, and E5 BUT:
What can you really expect out of Melky? Which Melky will you get?
Rasmus has been terrible more than he has been good. He has upside but we will see there.
Lind spent more time at Vegas last year than the bigs. Arencibia will hover around the mendoza line. And Emilio is solid for what he is but nothing special.
You guys are overrating this team just like the Marlins last year. They had a good team last year and will have a good team this year but they are still a victim of playing in the wrong division. They'll finish third in the division with a solid record.
If everything goes wrong the Blue Jays are a league average rotation
Like I said bar none the best and deepest lineup in baseball. Melky at very worse will be solid platoon OF with Davis or Rasmus.
Stop comparing them to the Marlins they are vastly superior in every way.

A lot of upside but more question marks, it is possible that they put together a great year. I'm not buying it yet. And based on your track record of predictions, I'm ok disagreeing with you.

Braves land Justin Upton, McCann comes back around, Medlen doesn't give up a run all year....Braves win.

they may not come true, but i can at least put together sensible reasons why I think they will .
Posted on 1/23/13 at 3:53 pm to Lester Earl
I very seriously doubt that.

Its either the Reds or the Braves and since my family is from Ohio the Reds are a natural choice. Getting my tickets to go see them in St. Louis this year.

2 of the top 3 pitching staffs in the NL (phillies/LAD)
royals have a lot of talent and have added arms, and play in the worst division in baseball. They have a top 3 MLB bullpen. No reason they shouldnt challenge for the AL central

Tigers still have much better staff and lineup than Royals. KC stands no chance of winning over Detroit.
Phillies will be at best 3rd in division.
Do you even watch baseball?
See what I mean, we all have opinions, man. Don't be a deuche and call people out for their preseason opinions because no one knows yet.

I am sure all of you picking the Angels picked them last year too. They are going to finish 2nd place at best. Hamilton will not be able to handle the pressure and the pitching staff will be exposed.

Mariners will be the surprise team this year, they may not make the playoffs but they will be in the playoff chase all the way.
Rangers will be better than last year. Despite the losses on offense, they will now have an offense full of guys with something to prove and I think the clubhouse chemistry will be better.
