Let's hope Crane doesn't f this up
Crane's cheap arse definitely won't be opening up the pocketbooks either

Let Springer walk, let Correa walk, Verlander won't be back.
Altuve and Bregman nearing the end of their time in Houston as well.

Pena will be a stud and a lot of young pitching that will be commanding premium dollars when they hit free agency.

The starting pitching and bullpen was the difference this World Series.

Right, he said way back in Aug he wasn't opting out and again right after season ended. Now he has no more. And was never opting out to begin with.

Could see Dansby taking a Correa like deal in order to put himself back on the market soon. 3 year type at 25 with opt outs so he could be the premier SS on the market next year.

Are the Rangers close to competing?

I honestly have no clue. We had a top five offense in the AL last year and that was with Seager having a career worst season at the plate. A lot will depend on Adolis and silver slugger Lowe remaining consistent.

Jung will be a good player I believe, but as it stands our offense is putrid, 7-9.

Pitching is horrendous. Martin Perez did accept the qualifying offer today so he is back along with Jon Gray. Gray was good last year but was hurt a good bit.

The determining factor will be the pitching prospects in the minors panning out. Former first rounder Cole Winn was expected to make the MLB leap this last year but was beyond bad in the minors. Kumar Rocker has been playing fall ball and has been mediocre thus far.

Leiter is a guy I’m greatly worried about. He was BAD in AA this year and really struggled with control. This seems to be a consistent issue in our development of pitchers. Also, Leiter was not pitching every fifth day this last year, which is mindblowing. He was still on the college schedule of pitching once a week. Some major red flags in terms of how either we or his camp is going about this.

We did can every pitching coach in our system like first thing at the end of the season.

We could possibly compete for a wild card spot this year if we sign 2-3 legit starting pitchers. Even then idk wtf to expect from our bullpen. I do expect Rodon and the Japanese guy to major targets along with deGrom. However, I think we’ll also try to trade some middle infield prospects for relief or starting pitching. With Semien and Seager our prospects are blocked in those spots and we have some notable talent in these areas in the system.

Wow I had no clue. That’s pretty bizarre about Leiter. I was expecting him to be a frontline starter sooner rather than later.

Telling though that y’all canned all pitching staff in the organization. The right hires could make a monumental difference. Will be real interesting to follow in the next 12 months

[Morosi] Justin Verlander to the #Dodgers became more realistic based on today's events. Specifically, Tyler Anderson rejected the Dodgers' QO; and signing Verlander would not involve the loss of a pick, whereas Jacob deGrom would. Credit to @Ken_Rosenthal for linking JV and LAD.

The baseball and pitching expert I trust the most in our market says there is zero chance he will be in the majors in 2023 based solely upon the Information of his rest schedule.

I thought he’d 100% be up by the end of next year with the hype he had. I honestly was expecting the same for Kumar, but looks like 2024 at the earliest for both.

The Royals want to build a new stadium.

The Kansas City Royals confirmed Tuesday they plan to build a new baseball stadium.

Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman penned a letter to Kansas City and fans saying the team is building a new ballpark district and are looking at options in downtown Kansas City or close to it.

Sherman said it has become difficult to maintain Kauffman Stadium, which opened in 1973. When the team’s lease with Jackson County ends in 2030, the stadium will be over 60 years old.

“The renovations required at The K to achieve our objectives would cost as much or more than the price tag to develop a new ballpark,” Sherman wrote. “A new home would be a far better investment, both for the local taxpayer dollars already supporting our facility and for the Kansas City community.”

I like Kauffman, but moving somewhere in the downtown area would be nice.

It's a boring stadium with a crappy view of the interstate. I won't miss it.

That’d scare me a bit too. I’m already somewhat skeptical of taking kids of former professional athletes after 3 years of college so high because they’ve likely had every advantage as far as individual coaching, training, and playing against the best guys their whole lives and are usually closer to their physical ceilings than most. I know the MLB draft is way different than the NFL and NBA, but I assumed the Rangers took both so high because they thought they were basically already MLB ready.

Before reading this thread, I was thinking there was a pretty good chance they were making up 40% of your ‘23 rotation out of Spring Training. Is it more a developmental thing or a “careful with their arms” because we don’t expect to compete until ‘24 at the earliest thing?

It is 100% development. Leiter has pitched a lot. Kumar is a different case since he was in independent ball.

It’s funny though, Cole Winn for example was drafted long enough ago that our plans for highly drafted pitching prospects was force them to rest the remainder of the season after being drafted and then fire them up the next year.

Resulted in like 200 Tommy Johns.
