Trying to make up for lost revenue most likely.

because that was the only way the owners would graciously offer them maybe 10 more regular season games

the owners make out like bandits if this is the deal

Worth noting: MLB’s last offer to the players maxed out at $1.5 billion. The money over a 60-game season at full pro rata: $1.5 billion.

If there’s a deal to be done, it is going to be for more than 60 games. Union will counter higher. And somewhere in the middle is the season.

frick the extended playoffs

It's bad enough the season will be shorted, we don't need more teams in.

It’s remarkable how poorly the mlb has handled this.

I thought it was as simple as telling the players when and where?

Yeah, getting full pro-rated salaries is a win for the players for sure. Even if it is 60 games. Plus a better chance at playoff money.

They have next to no chance to see any real part of that money as they have only gotten less even when revenue has exploded in recent years

Not surprising if you were around in '94.

What? They got exactly what they wanted. They will spend what they have wanted to all along.

Did they get a black eye? Yes
Do they give a frick? No
Can the players file a grievance after a deal is struck? No
