More kids will play baseball as a result of parents saying no to football. Then those kids and their family and friends will be drawn to baseball.

He is the best player in baseball but he is not the equivalent of Lebron. Lebron can drag a bad team to the finals, the sport of baseball doesn't allow for any one player to have that big of an impact

I see where you are going, but I don't think it will happen that easily. There are alot of kids that play baseball and soccer now, probably more than football. More kids playing it isn't going to make it more entertaining than football.

Lots of Black kids don't play baseball. They play football and basketball for the most part.

Exactly. So if their parents stop them from playing football, what sport do you think they will take up?

It was in regards to once in a generation talent. Trout has led the American league in war each of the every season he has been in the league. That is incredible. He can hit for average power run the bases plays CENTERFIELD and is a great glove. He does it all and from day 1 entering the league. A la lebron.

Yet the mlb has somehow managed to relatively waste this opportunity

A lot of this is likely about Trout and him not wanting all of the attention. He doesn't seem like the sort to seek out every promotional opportunity out there.

Baseball
no, dude. We play basketball and football mostly. Baseball is too expensive with all the equipment requirements. Basketball only needs a hoop and a ball and you can make a hoop out of anything.

Won't Trout's dominance come under steroids fire? It seems to happen to all the greats. Lebron on the other hand won't have to face that scrutiny because we saw him at 16 have the same frame he has now. The only difference is that he put on more weight that isn't all muscle.

You realize you really only need a stick and a ball for baseball, right?

Gloves, bat and a ball if you're just playing around the house. How many inner city or urban kids have a glove?

Baseball is great for going to games, and I enjoy it on the radio as background, but I really think the sport is too slow to regain its old popularity.

I love watching the Nats and Braves play, but if there is a televised game for teams I don't care about, then I find MLB pretty rough to watch on TV. Contrast that with football which is very exciting on TV and I'll happily watch a game between two good teams that I have no personal interest in.

And yes, football games take a long time, but there are only 16 regular season games per year, unlike baseball's marathon schedule.

Dude, baseball is very popular in Latin America. You need to drop the argument that baseball is too expensive due to the equipment requirements.

You want to do the same analysis for football?

Lots. They leave fingerprints otherwise.
