Tomlin coming back in '24

Someone put KillerNut on suicide watch.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told players on Tuesday the speculation about him stepping away is unfounded and he plans on coaching the team in 2024, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported.

The message to players comes less than 24 hours after head coach Mike Tomlin abruptly exited his postgame news conference before a question regarding his future could be finished.

Tomlin, who is entering the final season on his current contract, is expected to address the media later this week, Garafolo added.

In the aftermath of the Steelers' season-ending playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday, a question was asked of Tomlin regarding his contract status. Tomlin turned to his left and walked out of the presser. The incident prompted more speculation regarding his future after rumblings that he would potentially step away from the club.

Tomlin has now squashed those rumblings, but not before his superstar player offered his support earlier on Tuesday.

"I want to play for Mike T," Steelers three-time All-Pro T.J. Watt said, per The Athletic. "That was huge in my contract talks. I don't want to play for anyone other than Mike T. You can see in the way I talk about him, how much I respect and appreciate him as a coach, as a man, as a leader. That's my endorsement for him."

Tomlin remains just the third head coach of the Steelers franchise in the Super Bowl era, following Hall of Famers Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher. He's produced a 173-100-2 record, 11 playoff appearances, two Super Bowl berths and one Lombardi Trophy. In addition, Tomlin just extended his NFL record for consecutive non-losing seasons to 17 to begin a career.

Cool

Another season of not making the playoffs or losing by 2+ scores in the first round

With Burrow back next year the Steelers will be the 4th best team in the division.

Stop calling the Steelers a proud franchise if what he as accomplished the last 6 years is “good enough”

Tbh what tomlin has done recently is respectable but he wasted a lot of actual good Steeler teams. Tim Tebow passing for 316 yards against then#1 pass defense

To be fair, we were playing our back up DB b/c Ryan Clark couldn't play in Denver due to the altitude affecting his sickle cell.

And damn you for making me watch that play again. May Bebe Thomas RIP.

Exactly.

He does need to overhaul the offensive staff and philosophy but TBH I liked what I saw once we made the change at OC and got rid of Canada.

Why aren’t they getting the Cowboys treatment?

Go look at the roster of some of those playoff teams(especially Ben's last year in '21) and it was a testament to Tomlin's coaching abilities that they even sniffed the playoffs let alone made it.

Kevin Colbert did Tomlin no favors. His drafts, especially along the lines, were abhorrent.

B/c they haven't had the roster that Dallas has had the last 3 years. Khan is just now getting the roster back in order(along the LOS) from Colbert's mess.

You don't win 12 games 3 straight years and bow out in the first round each time and not expect some heat. Different expectations.

I think those days are over now that Khan has shown that he can draft, unlike his predecessor.

So now you’re going to say that the Cowboys are talented?

Not that it means much but they did win their Wild card matchup last year and in 2018.
