Former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach filed a lawsuit Wednesday alleging ESPN defamed him last year in the coverage of his firing.
Leach was fired Dec. 30 after allegations that he mistreated wide receiver Adam James, the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James.
The lawsuit in Texas district court claims ESPN failed to "retract false and damaging statements" made from "misinformation" James provided.
ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said the company has not seen the lawsuit and that it would be inappropriate to comment.
The suit also names Spaeth Communications as a defendant, claiming James hired the firm for "purposes of creating public opinion hostile to Leach."
Information from The Associated Press is included in this report.
Good for leach.

The fact that Craig James was not removed from the air while all this was going on was a crock of shite.

Even worse is that he was allowed to comment on it while covering other games.

Pretty sure Adam has received many in Lubbock. He doesn't have a friend left in that town.

At a minimum, Leach will be heavily compensated in a settlment. Espn handled the entire ordeal poorly.

Good for Leach. ESPN definitely had an agenda to get him last year. It was a very biased coverage and they were directing all of their efforts towards getting him fired before his his big payout.

I've been listening to Leach's radio show and he is awesome. The best part about him is he doesn't like to talk about over played bullshite. I'd love to sit down and split a bottle of bourbon with the man.
