Because I think your analysis is a bit off. They were so hard to beat because there is no single or even double point of failure. They shoot the three at a high percentage, but don’t take a ton of 3s or rely on it.

They’re elite defensively, especially against the 3. The two teams last night were the best high major teams against the 3. UConn shot about what Michigan allows, Michigan shot historically bad and way worse than what UConn typically allows. Had Michigan just shot what UConn typically allows, they win that going away.

Turns out most everyone shot poorly against Michigan. All the teams in the tourney shot their worst game of the season against them. Michigans length alters a lot of those long shots. You rush shots against that length and work very hard to get them to begin with. But in your mind, UConn was just missing wide open 3s.

No. It literally happened last night in the game. You're welcome to go watch the 2nd half again and report back. I think they were 0 for 15 on 3s at one point. Some contested, for sure. Some wide open, yes. Its basketball. Michigan is very good. But all that said, it was a 4 pt game w 40 seconds left.

Let that sink in.

Michigan won, and deserves it! All I said was I would have liked to see it play out if Uconn would have just hit a couple of those 15 3s..like they normally would have

They shot like dog shite in the 2nd half, and it allowed Michigan the huge lead. If not for that, my opinion is uconn was better overall, and would have won.

But Michigan shot like dog shite the entire game from the Arc. One could make the argument that UCONN was lucky to be as close as they were since Michigan was cold from three.

Yes, shooting like they did, I agree. Which is exactly why thats the original point of my post.
In a game like that, I like to see both teams have their best show up.
It really wasn't close after half, and its mostly because uconn couldn't buy a bucket

Meh. Could have easily lost last night if Uconn could have made ANY of the wide open 3s they were missing.

Uh, Michigan went 0-9 on 3s in the 1st Half and they still led by 4 at Halftime.... That's how good Michigan is...even their B game is better than the field. If the Michigan against Arizona had showed up this would've been a massacre. Kudos for UConn miraculously punking Duke I guess.

but they didn’t show up because UConn imposed their will
And do states the game. Michigan had more offensive talent overall along with an elite defense and that’s why they won but Michigan didn’t blow out UConn not because they had an off night but because UConn dictated the flow of the game and forced Michigan to play
The game like they wanted

Michigan doesn't even put all of their B1G money back into athletics. I think you are reading way too much into 1 MBB Natty.

Well they got Yaxel to bypass being a 1st round pick last year to go play for them. If they keep it up, with a great coach, yes they will win a lot.

Comes down to how much does Portnoy and Larry Ellison’s wife want to win.

Bc if they pay Mara and Morez enough to play one more year they will 100% repeat. College basketball is gonna be down next year given how much talent is going to the NBA, and the HS 2026 class isn’t very good. Michigan will win even easier next season

too soon to say

Portal just opened today. Programs looking at what Michigan did might throw money around and form a one year super team

Not the most popular topic on here but their hockey team is loaded with talented players - NIL plus the benefit of getting kids from Canadian juniors for their team as well. Big 10 seems to be the one benefitting most frequently over the other 60+ schools in D1.

Much smaller pool you're competing against vs. basketball or football, easy to stack a hockey team if you can get 3-5 top players. For a lot of the incoming kids it's "do you want to play for a winner or do you want to develop as a player?"

NCHC has dominated hockey, the B1G is new as a hockey conference and their programs have yet to win it all since they became an official conference (many, including Michigan have won in the or old conferences).

But next week Wisconsin and Michigan have a chance to break through and be the first B1G team to win a hockey title

What's impressed me most about the NCHC's top 4, for the most part they're not dependent on CHL's top prospects - Verhoeff and Reschny on ND are two that come to mind that are among that group - those schools have often done great at developing their players and keeping them for two years or more.

B10 gets the headlines, NCHC gets the results.
