How often has this type of "self" punishment worked?

I feel like you do this to try and play the PR game, and then the real punishment comes out and the self punishment was a joke

They are going down

Who cares. Everyone watched the games.

I think what people miss relating to this is the following:

Michigan was 9-4 in 2019 and then 2-4 in the shortened 2020 season. Connor Stallions joined Michigan in 2021.

Then they lost 3 games the next 3 seasons combined.

When a team starts gaining momentum, the energy around the program will change. Transfers want to join the team, 3rd/4th year players stay around for another season, coaches stay around for a bit.

The cheating in 2021 and 2022 led them to keeping all their players and bringing in really good transfers and then being really good in 2023.

You can't just say "well they beat good teams at the end of 2023 so they were legit" and discount all the cheating that got them to being good in the first place and building that momentum

What do you think is going to happen? I can see a bowl ban, but I don't think it'll be anything major.

This is not the NCAA ruling. However, I'm not expecting much worse.

Everyone who knows anything about CFB knows you guys cheated on your way to the title

I thought Harbaugh already served a 3 game suspension for that in 2023

the three games were for illegal recruiting during Covid, not the filming of opponents

That was the first 3 games of the season. He was suspended for the last 3 games of the season for the scouting scandal

He missed 6 games in 2023

Moore is likely gone. It seems like most of the time when schools try to get out ahead and preemptively suspend a coach during one of these scandals, that coach ends up resigning or fired in the end.

He was likely always meant to be a fall guy anyway, which is why michigan didn't do a proper coaching search when Harbaugh left and kept someone who was tied to the scandal. They didn't want a brand new coach to be handcuffed by ncaa punishments so they had Moore stick around to take the fall.

Honestly I have no idea. Some 'insiders" for lack of a better team on the OSU side have been saying they are going to get destroyed.

They made Moore and Harbaugh repeat offenders with the smaller offenses. Was that so they can drop the hammer on them and hit them with LOIC?

I think they need to weigh a lot of things into this. If you destroy a program like Michigan you are in a way lessening achievements of other top programs in the B1G. Does the B1G/NCAA care?

I thought it was very interesting how the entire B1G was pissed about this when it came out. Seemed to be a bigger issue in the conference than nationally

I think he was suspended by the conference not the NCAA for that. The NCAA hasn't done anything about it yet to my knowledge

I agree with you here. If they're average this year, he's gone.

It has been an interesting few weeks:

President "voluntarily leaves"
Moore gets suspended
Michigan Staff is not out recruiting

It is unclear if the program has self-imposed travel restrictions during the spring contact period, if this is an agreement or a mandate by the NCAA, or something else, but some recruits have indicated they’ve been told not to expect staff to visit them until the week of May 19.

Something is certainly up

Never has, never will.

This isn't MIB. You can't unsee what was seen. You can't uncelebrate or undrink the beer or unprint the shirts or forget the parade....rewriting history is agenda-driven by the jealous and the losers and is firmly a devout offspring of Communist ideology.

The 11W poster who has been ahead of everything said a few weeks ago Michigan was trying to re-engage with the NCAA on self imposed penalties but it was going nowhere.

All of this seems to align with it. People forget Michigan are repeat offenders. And they apparently were horrible at cooperating during the investigation.

Not getting my hopes up, but the groundwork is definitely there for them to get a somewhat serious punishment.

I swear to God the day someone convinces me that scouting an opponent at their game is cheating is the day I return my intelligence and common sense cards
