They cannot get married at city hall in a non-religious marriage ceremony in 34 states. Why?

There is not a single state that prevents any citizen from getting married.
I cannot marry a man just as no other male can marry a man in those 34 states. Seems pretty equal

So what if you are the type of person that just doesn't care about the issue and if you were in the voting booth on election day you wouldn't vote for it or against it? Is this person an intolerant bigot?

Look, i dont feel like getting in this big argument here because there are so many more important issues this country is facing, but pretty much assume anything that gives our government less power and less laws preventing its citizens from doing what they want, i am against

Unless of course you think the word "marriage" can only be between and a man and woman, even when religion is not involved. In which case, this argument is futile as you do not understand the evolution of the word into a civil and legal term.

I disagree. Rumor was out there, so this was a tactical move.
Risk draft stock dropping because of gay rumors, or come out, and get to use the homophobe card during negotiations, and against any team that passes him up beyond his projected selection.
I didn't read all 10 pages, so if someone else already said this, excuse my redundancy.

Nope
People that go out of their way to vote against it are who I am talking about. I'd call someone who doesn't care either way lazy though.
For which I'd reference this quote:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Well now I realize I'm arguing with a child. I will back out of here because this won't go anywhere constructive.

I doubt this will have a large effect on his draft stock. If he can play, he'll get drafted. There might be a handful of teams that back off because of this, but someone will pull the trigger if they think he is a good value pick.

I'm not sure how someone can be lazy because they do not think something is a big issue if it only affects ~3% of the population. I think we all need to refocus on what is going to get us the biggest bang for our buck.

That IS the definition of marriage, retard. Has nothing to do with religion. Seems to me that you are the only one getting caught up on the word. I've said they should have equal rights...benifits, hospital visits, all of that.

Well I agree there are a ton of major issues in this country that need our focus as well, but simply ignoring a major civil rights issue isn't right.
I definitely wouldn't vote on a candidate for just same-sex marriage opinion or for their opinion on just 1 issue about anything.
We need our country to rebound financially as well and I agree that should be our biggest concern at the moment.

Ok, why don't you want them to get married?

and that comment, as have most of my comments in here, was directed at Sevendust, not you.

I said I support gay marriage, but I can easily understand why people don't

I think theres a disconnect between us and that may be my fault.
I don't think people who don't support gay marriage are bigots and intolerant. I think people who go out of their way to vote against it and legally infringe on their rights to get married are intolerant bigots.
To each his own, I agree. Just keep that shite to yourself when voting.
ETA:
because 9 times out 10 they are against same sex marriage for religious reasons and religion has no place in our laws.
