Yes, it is true that 1995-96 was the first season that M.J. played without his father by his side, and yes, it is true that Game 6 of the 1996 NBA Finals was played on Father's Day, but Payton's handiwork was hardly confined to a single game.

When the Seattle SuperSonics and Bulls met for the first time in the regular season, Payton held Jordan to 22 points on 6-of-19 shooting in a Sonics victory.

In the three NBA Finals games in which Payton drew the primary Jordan assignment, His Airness averaged only 23.7 points per game on 36.7 percent shooting from the field. In Chicago's first 15 playoff games, Jordan averaged 32.1 points on 47.6 percent shooting.

Jordan shot 5-19 in Game 6. I'd be proud if I was Payton. There aren't too many guys who can have a legit claim to have given MJ problems.

The only reason Jordan laughed at that clip was because he can never admit someone got the best of him. It's obvious Payton had an effect on him when they lost Game 4 and 5 before winning Game 6, which was still Jordan's worst game of the series

I think one of the funniest parts of the doc is everytime someone or something got the better of Jordan, he chimes in with some excuse on why it happened or how he got the best of them right back & then all his reporter boys chime in & echo exactly what he says ad nauseam.

The Magic win & Gary Payton last night certainly wasn’t the most objective journalism I’ve ever seen

MJ is one of the main producers of this documentary. There will be no such thing as total objectivity

I think the Glove was a slightly better defender than JJ Barea but that might just be me.

It is less about the points and the number of attempts and the fg% it took to get there.

If I held Michael Jordan to 23 ppg on 35% shooting, I'd try to have it inscribed on my gravestone.

Facing truly great players, you don't stop them. You win if you make them inefficient and hold them below their average.

Pippen did a great job vs Magic in the 1991 finals and Magic still put up 19, 12 and 8. He just was less efficient and wasn't dominating like usual.
