Miami hasn't been that attractive a job for a while now.

That's how I feel about it. I don't consider it a top tier job anymore.

But why?

I mean, it wasn't a top tier job in 1980, but Miami ended up dominating the 80s. Had a great program in the early 90s.

Disappeared and thought dead. Butch Davis turns it into one of the more memorable dynasty-runs over the past few decades.

So they've had some shitty years. Why wouldn't a good coach be able to come in and get recruiting going?

They can't do the things today that were done in 1980. It will never be an elite football program again.

They need a 50k stadium on campus. And then the job is better. We are in a day and age where houston is a better job than miami. Miami needs to reavuate what it thinks it is

Oh no we are...., Miami refuses to actually give a crap about building its football program and has even when it was elite. The program can't simply recruit South Florida anymore and expect to win. Too many others are taking talent out of there.

They don't. It's still a much better job than fricking Houston. No one would even come close to making that statement 12 months ago when Levine was stinking it up there.

That's hardly their biggest problem and the right coach can "close the borders" and South Beach ain't a hard sell to out of staters. They haven't had a good coach since Butch so we can't accurately gauge what their ceiling is.

Maybe. Moving to the Dolphins' Stadium instead of saving the Orange Bowl looks pretty bad now.

But it's still a smaller private school that's always had meh support from the student body in a city that's had meh support for pretty much every sport that's not winning. I'm not sure an on-campus stadium fixes things.

I think the recruiting area makes the program easier to turn around than places like Nebraska, but they need commitment from the university in some capacity. They can't rely on "the U" reputation to remain relevant and be held to the expectations of the 80s and early 90s.

What about from 1999-2004?

Same things were said about Alabama for years leading up to Saban.

It just takes a good coach that can recruit. Miami is a great city to be in if you're young. It's a pretty good school. The U has a history of putting players into the NFL. The ACC isn't that tough of a conference.

Nah. Alabama has a strong fan base. Miami has one of the weakest in FBS. Kids being groomed today have little concept of the blip in time when Miami football was relevant.

The football facilities at the U are terrible...they do not have the bells and histles like the big time elites.

The students at the university or potential HS football recruits? Because if it's the latter that's retarded. Not that it matters anyway, I mean RG3 didn't remember the glory days of Baylor football, Dak Prescott/MSU football, Josh Rosen/UCLA football, etc.
