It was a record-setting performance as McNeese completed its eighth undefeated regular season home slate by winning its record 16th home game. It also broke the school record for most wins in a regular season with is 27th as it improved to 27-3 on the year. The 1955-56 team that holds the record with 33 wins, won 26 regular season games before capturing seven postseason victories on its way to the NAIA National Championship.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will likely tip closer to 7:30 as it will follow a 5 o'clock game between the two women's teams.

I read the fine print in the NCAA handbook and it states that if any team wins 28 regular season games they receive an automatic berth into the NCAAT.

It's science.

They would have the most wins and best winning percentage of any team not to make the NCAAT if they win out the regular season but don't win their tournament.

I am beginning to think they may make it regardless, We shall see.

That has been my contention. If they lose in the Southland tournament finals, how far does their NET drop? Another issue is they may win games but have their NET. That happened this week. Currently at 58. but if they keep it under 60 the committee may decide the story is good enough to warrant them in the first 4. I still usually feel like it is unlikely but I sometimes wonder if that may be wrong.

Those two wins against Nicholls will though… you know, the team your boy McMahon couldn’t beat.

Come up with something else.

Wanna know another reason why they have 0% chance of getting an auto bid? They have zero Q1 wins. Thanks VCU…
How many does McMahon have?

It’s wild that some of you think building a roster to compete in SEC is the same as competing in Southland.

Take one from your king, Will Wade.

"I root for LSU. I hope their basketball program does well. I hope Matt does well." - Will Wade

That's true. But he didn't just build a roster to "compete" in the Southland. He built one, in ONE offseason, to dominate the conference. He's has McNeese in the top 70 of the KenPom rankings...which are adjusted for the level of competition. That's pretty damn remarkable for a Southland Conf. team. Even more so when the turnaround was in one offseason.

I'm an LSU fan first and foremost. But it is absurd to try to diminish what he's done at McNeese this season. It's one of the biggest one year turnarounds in all of college basketball this year. Dislike Wade because he "got LSU in trouble". Dislike Wade because there is a large segment of the LSU fanbase that still wishes he were the LSU coach. But give him his due. He's done one of the best coaching jobs in the country this season. Any argument to the contrary is intentionally disingenuous

EDT: He also built a roster to win the SEC in only his second year at LSU (not just fight for a NIT bid). Again, you can be angry with the constant Wade discussion by LSU fans. But the reality is the guy won at LSU very quickly, and more consistently than any coach since Brown. He then went to an in-state school with very little history of success and immediately led them to their best season in school history. The results speak for themselves...even if you may not like the guy.

I don’t think I have done that. Just stating reasons why they won’t receive an automatic bid.

More so the WW bunch just critizing & comparing results to MM

This statement....

reads as an attempt to diminish what's he's done at McNeese.

I agree it is VERY unlikely McNeese will get an at-large bid (I think that's what you meant to say when you said "automatic bid). They just don't have the resume for that. But you kind of turned it into a McMahon v Wade pissing match...only to say you weren't doing that.
