For Nico to say it's b/c they are win now mode when he just brought them to the Finals is spitting in every fan's face.
Oof, that is a bad quote. He really said that as one of the reasons?

2. The return is a joke. AD is really good but is oft injured, is about to be 32, and is more than likely to leave once his contract is up. Only getting 1 first round pick is insane when Rudy fricking Gobert commanded 4 when he was traded.
Oh wow. Okay this was what I was ultimately trying to get an understanding of. That puts the draft picks number in a completely different perspective. Thank you.

Yeah, during the presser he said this was a win now move. He also casually said he doesn't expect to be year in 4 years.

Yikes. Like I can understand a win now position if you think that the roster just isn't going to be able to make it over that final hump and you want to make a quick adjustment. Probably something the Bills are going to have to start looking at in the NFL, again. They tried this year but still didn't work.
Sounds like this doesn't really move the needle for the current 1-2 season outlook and greatly hamstrings long term outlook with roster management and draft picks.

Oh it keeps getting worse.
Kyrie can opt out this summer. Kyrie was here b/c he liked playing w/Luka. Now they'll be able to pay him a ton but... Kyrie is also kind of a different dude and I could totally see him saying frick this place I'm going to LA.
So Nico has put the team in a position where if they don't win a title THIS YEAR it's going to all fall apart.
He'll have traded Luka and all he'll have to show for it is an old injured AD and a '29 draft pick that won't be very good b/c he just sent him to go start Showtime 2.0 at the leagues #1 most valuable franchise and #1 FA destination.

it was insane to trade him. I would have fired Nico Harrison on the spot for even bringing it up to me
I thought the trade was ownership’s idea… it’s their money that would have been invested in a Supermax for Luka…
What this reminds me of is when Harvey Hornet tried to gaslight everyone about Tyson Chandler and his foot issues in 09, after the Hornets had that 56 win year… Chandler only went on to play a decade after we traded him, and if I recall won a championship, DPOY, and Olympic Gold Medal afterwards… David West played a long time after, CP is still in the league.

I agree that's ridiculous, but imagine just dropping 10's of thousands on season tickets because Luka is going to be there for 10 more years and you get to ride that wave. Paying up a lot of money, but to regularly see a generational offensive talent in his prime seems worth it. Coming off an NBA Finals appearance too.
Then this.

I can't understand the people hating on the GM as if this was his decision in any way. There is zero chance it wasn't orchestrated by the ownership.

lol, no
He's out of shape and has never even been the best player in the league. I'm not sure you understand what generational means. Don't worry though most people struggle with it.

No one’s gonna want to be seen supporting them now
There’s a reason all the celebs in LA love the Lakers and not the Clippers

The Lakers are cooler and have been there longer. The celebs were there even when the Clippers were the better team.

AD with 24/13/5 in the first half Nico might be playing 4D chess

AD has been injured. The fans will love this.
