Will the league retire 23 when Jordan passes?

This is where things get confusing. So if nba retires Jordan 23 then Lebron gets screwed. But Lebron also wore 6. But what if Dr. J’s 6 gets retired first?

Recency bias has set in.

Has Jordan’s number been retired throughout the league yet ?

Bird and Magic revived the NBA, but MJ took it to heights unseen before AND since.

It would be a niche league today without him. I enjoyed watching Kobe play, but MJ is the architect of the modern NBA.

Maybe the Clips should retire 24 so they can finally have a retired number.

I'm teasing you. You've actually been very respectful despite being a Clips fan, and that's cool in the wake of the Kobe thing. I've talked trash on other stuff, but I respect how you handled the Kobe thing.

If I knew how to do the cheers emoji, I would.

We should retire it. Kobe was great. Especially the family guy Kobe. I hope they announce his statue is going up immediately

I was really bummed tonight was cancelled but I understand

A player doesn’t need to be deceased to have his number retired. See: Gretzky, Wayne

I don't see the point of the Mavericks or Pistons or Celtics retiring 24 for Kobe.

Jackie Robinson's number 42 is retired by MLB but that is a whole different matter. He integrated major league sports.

It's not like the Mavericks are hanging a jersey in the rafters, just no one is wearing the number again

Sources: Multiple NBA players have begun informally retiring Kobe Bryant’s jersey number(s) as a tribute — with Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie among them, changing from No. 8 to No. 26.

I can never tell if you are black or a troll doing a bad caricature of a black guy.

And if you are the former, think about what that says about you that people would even consider the latter.
