Sambo was other than Bench probably best hitting Catcher. Well deserved. The story of him fighting John Denny is awesome and shows his competitive nature

Somewhat surprised Miller goes in, but the old guard of writers must not have votes anymore

Simmons should of been in years ago.

He was a better Catcher than Gary Carter, and only loses to Carter in Homers, Simmons dominates him in other stats(hits, rbis, ops, rbi, obp, etc) Simmons also had longevity playing a position that was grueling, not to mention playing on that brutal astroturf in the St.Louis Humid Summers. He also played in a pitchers park.

Playing in NY got Carter into the HOF, before guys like Simmons.

I’m glad both got in. Simmons will be the Cardinals 11th HOF player.

Simba!

He was a big "active in the community" guy when he was playing, too, all around fine guy and his stats hold up. He just played in a shitty era for Cards baseball.
