well teach me yoda! i would love to realize how someone as quick as marcus couldnt play ample enough defense, take some scoring stress off CP3 and west, and have a shot at serious playing time. please tell me.

get pulled up on and no wheres near a hand in the face, yeah that a fact. what else?

yall are also getting too fired up about a summer league game

the main difference between peja/butler and thorton is height

i know he is an lsu guy and played well this season, but i dont see that translating to immediate nba success

see supa's post

everyone in the nba is as quick as thorton

for those of you who are brushing scott's comments about defense off, that's one of the main reasons he didn't play J.R, Bass, Wright, etc. I see the rookies struggling for PT.

I like it, Butler and Peja would be better coming off the bench.

those being:

1. make open jumpshots that cp3 delivers to you
2. to be determined

Thornton is not just a jump shooter, that would be peja and butler.

MT can create his own shot, drive somewhat, and make hustle plays on both ends of the court.

Fwiw, he was the leading rebounder yesterday...

I think that this team will have a very slim chance of making the playoffs. Being in the Western Conference really hurts to begin with. Loaded with overage high contract players. I think we all saw West's limitations last year and he is supposed to be out second best player.

Of course Paul is great but even he doesn't match up well with several opponents. I wish it was different but its going to be a rough year.

This is mostly a question of who would help the team more between Butler and Thornton.

I'm picking Thornton.

as an assumed hornetard, being that i have never liked them, but anyways i believe thorton will TAKE the job also if its between him and butler.

well, until the Hornets imrpove the frontcourt I can't see them higher than a 7/8th seed. They were at the bottom of the NBA in rebounding and they couldn't protect the paint at all. That's directly due to the shitty quality of players we were depending on(Marks, Hilton, ely).

In the '08 rookie class (stronger coming in than the 09 draft class), there were only 8 guys drafted between picks 11 and 60 that were a part of their team's regular rotation (16 percent). The majority of those teams were worse than the Hornets, and still didn't get their rooks regular playing time.

I like Thornton's offensive game, but odds are against him even getting in the rotation, much less being a starter.

Good stat on how meaningless summer play is, but I still say he can help the team more than Butler can this year and in the future.
