I really enjoy the first four days of the tournament, but the rest of the tournament is kind of ho hum.

We get 16 games on Thursday and Friday and 8 on Saturday and Sunday, for a total of 48 games over 4 days. Then we get 14 games total over the next two weeks.

I legitimately forgot North Carolina was the defending champion. The spectacle of the first weekend completely dominates the entirety of the tournament IMO.

The first two days are the most exciting two days in all of sports.

First 4 days are definitely the best, but I enjoy the rest of the tournament too. There have been some incredible games over the years.

The first weekend is where most of the upsets occur, if that is what you want to know.

Agree. Matchups tend to get better, but the excitement is usually gone. Prime time games for s16 and e8 mean no slacking at work (at least to watch basketball)

I don’t know if it’s overrated per se, but the opening weekend is much better than the following rounds/weekends, and those following rounds almost feel anticlimactic.

The opening weekend of the NCAA tournament is arguably the greatest sporting event of the year

Why do we need 96 teams??? Everyone doesn't deserve entry. Sorry.

2nd weekend is boring when it's chalk.

But George Mason/VCU/LSU runs and the like make it worth it.

Also, some of the best games in tournament history (and arguably the best in Duke/Kentucky) were Elite Eight matchups.

Of course, but it's not just that. The unnecessarily long breaks suck too. I understand it's made for TV, but squeezing this thing in 10 days would be awesome.

It’s not overrated but the first two rounds are what make it great

false. to be overrated, you have to be rated at a level higher than what you actually are. everyone seems to agree that the first weekend is the best. how can the rest be overrated when it's not rated all that high anyway?

Is my bracket still going strong? False.

Is my bracket a smoking, cratered ruin? True.

So I guess it's true 8 years out of 10.

I like the thursday and friday games the most.

Something about 4 games on 4 different channels at the same time.

People say March Madness is awesome, but the bulk of the time the tournament lasts actually is shitty. 14 of the 18 days it lasts are crap.

How can you exclude the first weekend? It's part of march madness, the biggest part actually

Because the rest of the tournament is just college basketball.

The betting, the aura, the bracket excitement and potential for upsets wears off. And that's a big indictment against college basketball. That they need all this gimmick and pool and betting shite to get people to tune in.

Because you're right, once everyone's bracket is busted it's oh shite - it's just fricking college basketball.

The first weekend of the tournament is great. But that wears off.

College basketball as a product? Sucks. And the officiating is WWE.
