Least surprising news ever. Man who made a million betting on sports is now on the road to betting it all away

LINK

He won 1.19 million on his $85K bet on the masters. He’s now bet $100K on Tiger winning the grand slam which would payout $10 million.

He'll be broke soon. Compulsive gamblers are never satisfied with their winnings.

Why not bet 100k on each tournament and roll over everything. The payout wound easily exceed 100-1 odds he’s getting.

That is such a dumb fricking bet holy hell. What an idiot. If you gave Tiger 7:1 in each of the remaining 3, and that’s being generous, you’d still have to essentially hit a 350:1 parlay. He’s getting 100:1.

He's like 9-1 now for the PGA. If he won that, he'd be 5-1 or 6-1 at the US Open. If he won that, he could be close to even money at the Open. He's been an even money favorite at a major before - 2008 Masters. 100-1 isn't as terrible a bet as it appears on the surface.

ETA - I still would roll the dice each major instead of 100-1, it's just not as bad as it first appears.

There’s no way 43 year old Tiger will be even money again in a major. If he was even 3:1 at the last one, it’s still a bad gamble.

If he's won 3 in a row, he absolutely would be.

ETA - would is strong, but it wouldn't be a surprise to me at all in that situation.

Has anyone considered the idea that this guy might be a time traveler and Tiger might win all these?

I went with 8,5,3 in the OT thread 120:1. And I think that's conservative.

But.......if he won the next two, the bookies would absolutely have to protect themselves even more than they already do With Tiger's odds always being inflated and The Open odds could be pretty ridiculous.

The other side to this isn’t just what vegas is offering as odds. It’s what are the chances Tiger actually pulls this off?

Certainly less than 1%.

Wasn’t it reported that was his first ever bet? There’s no way that was true

I guess one aspect of this I just thought of is whether or not this guy is getting appearance fees or any financial benefit from being the “guy that bet on Tiger”. If so, you’d have to imagine Tiger winning the PGA championship might offset the cost of this some as he’d be “the guy with the 10 million dollar parlay who’s one step closer to 10 million.”

I don’t know the answers to these questions. It easily could be just a dumb bet.

Genuinely asking because I don't know. With the amount of money that he won, how easily could he hedge this advertised bet to make sure he comes out on top either way?

I don't see how you could. The days of Tiger or FIELD bets are long gone, and it's over 3 tournaments, so I'm not sure what guaranteed bet you could make to counter this one.
