LSU/Bama has zero national appeal the majority of those times. UM/OSU has been touted as one of, if not the best, college rivalries. Add into that #1 vs #2 and a guaranteed spot in the title game? The game was awesome too.

do you realize how stupid this sounds?

OSU-UM has zero national appeal every year. Just because something is big in ur area dont think we care.

in 2006 i was mad that the winner of OSU-UM was gonna go to the national title because neither had faced any tough competition and the SEC had a chance at not making the title game because one of those teams taking their spot. it was proven that that would have been a travesty because OSU got the brakes beat off of them in the title game by a UF team that wasn't a lock to be there until after the SEC championship

Then don't care...but the SEC isn't the Nation.

The rest of the nation is far more interested in UM vs OSU than they are two SEC schools playing. The opposite may be true for you but the South amounts to about 35% of the population vs. the other 65% who want to watch this rivalry more than two SEC teams who they have little connection with. It's a big country...and there's far more people outside the South than living in it. I don't know why this concept is so hard to understand.

The Big Ten showdown between the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines drew the largest audience of any regular-season college football game in 13 years (22M on Nov 13, 1993 between Notre Dame and Florida State), averaging a very strong 21.8M viewers.

And here's a 2005 WSJ study on which college football teams draw the biggest national TV ratings over a 15 year sample period.

LINK

1. Oregon
2. Washington
3. Michigan
4. USC
5. Texas A&M
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. Ohio State
9. Florida
10. Alabama

27. LSU

That rant of yours back there was epic. LSU is in no way "America's team" but you're almost certainly just describing your own feelings in that rant. Really, that's some blockheaded shite.

A distinct regional Southern school with it's swamp water french dialects, Cajun lifestyles and creole catholic distrust and hate of anything and anyone from outside of that plantation has turned into Americas team?

You are one old delusional man.

Yes, those West Coast "elitists" just love LSU and your observational humor about how everyone who lives in California must be a fig.

The Midwest just loves LSU and your keen compliments on how they are slow, fat, dimwitted and soft.

The East coast just loves LSU and your utter disdain for their love of the arts, theater and high-brow culture.

America doesn't love you; why would it?

The school and the fans represent hating America. You are about as inclusive and friendly as the Third Reich.
That is one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen posted that the poster took more than 20 seconds to come up with.

You are a fricking dipshit. They were the consensus 1-2 going into the game. Even after Michigan lost, people were debating whether Michigan deserved a second chance because they were so much better than the rest of the field.

Really? Late in the season, the barely beat mighty Ball State. I think they beat them by a touchdown or something close. We saw how they fared against Southern Cal. I don't know, I was never that impressed with them that season. Ohio State on the other hand...

It's on network television, primetime, and it's #1 vs #2 unless it's on basic cable I see no reason why it couldn't. A good episode of Lost generates 20 million...frankly I'm shocked UM/OSU didn't generate more viewers

It was a noon game that was on at the same time as the Iron Bowl, and the Army Navy game I think.

I was off the coast of California and it didn't start until after noon...well see what Bama/LSU pulls, but 21 mil is disappointing for the biggest rivalry in sports 1vs. 2 not to mention a heisman lock.

Guess you're right. Was 330. But it was definitely on at the same time as the Iron Bowl. I remember flipping back and forth.
