RUSTON -- One year after the opening of the Davison Athletics Complex -- the cornerstone of the Quest for Excellence capital campaign -- Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland unveiled the plans, renderings and timeline for the newest phase of facility improvements at Joe Aillet Stadium. During a lunchtime press conference in the Jarrell Room of the Davison Athletics Complex Tuesday, McClelland revealed that a new $16.7 million press box and guest suite facility would be built. An additional $2.1 million will be invested in other stadium improvements, including LED lighting, a permanent west side ticket booth, renovations to the west side bathrooms and aesthetic improvements to stadium entry points. The total price of $18.6 million for the various improvements will be funded 100 percent through private donations. The cost of these additions combined with the money spent on construction of the Davison Athletics Complex and installation of new field turf last year means over $40 million will have been invested in the facility in a three-year time frame. All of the $40-plus million total has been generated through private investment and other non-state revenue sources.

I think Tech will need to take care of the skeleton after this is completed

Nice. I love the changing they are doing around Ruston. They've really upgraded the campus and football stadium recently. I really wish they would fix up the TAC to make it look a little nicer on the outside and then they would have all 3 venues looking top notch, especially for a school of Tech's size.

that's probably down the road, it's still functional right now

Man, Davison has been really hooking y'all up. I did some work in the complex last summer, they did a fine job.

See what happens when they go to bowls?
But seriously, I think Skip is doing a great job there hope he sticks around for a bit.

Yea I figured it's not an immediate project. Every time I look at the TAC though it looks like its straight out of 1960s/70s. It probably looks even worse now though after all improvements to the Joe.
At same time half of Techs campus looked straight out of the 60s and 70s just 6 years ago when I left, but all those buildings for most part are gone or redone so I'm sure in time it will all get the upgrade that was desperately needed.

That and the endzone expansion should look real nice. That being said Tech stadium looks kind of weird. It's like they extended the stands too far into the north endzone and looks off center.

Baby steps. The seating configuration will change with time.

wish we could eventually get big enough to bowl in the north endzone

The seating extended into both endzones before the new facility.
They removed the aluminum seating on the south end but kept it in the north.

Okay I see it now. If those two sections were removed it would look normal.

They would have to do a lot of work. The path the stadium is on now, the North endzone seats would be too far away from the field.

Yeah, it would. But we ended up needing the seating last year. Cant get rid of it yet.
