Lacrosse isn’t a sport.

It’s a ****-college activity.

What was the lax bro's name that took your girl? I bet the OT can provide you some comfort/support.

I’d agree that Caddo Magnet is top team in north. They waxed Dutchtown (I know Dtown is no powerhouse team). Byrd definitely isn’t the typical Byrd team. Dtown was actually tied 6-6 at the beginning of the 4th. Then Byrd decided to play again and put it out of reach.

It's a fun sport, and another great fit for off-season football training. It's also extremely fan friendly with plenty of action, hits, and scoring.

21 play in the league. 1 from Alabama, 2 from Mississippi, and 18 from Louisiana.

In my day, there were only 4 and we played in the Texas league.

Actually, it’s probably one of the more expensive sports. My son has spent plenty of my money on sticks, heads, mesh, gloves, arm pads, cleats. It is a very expensive sport.

Yeah it adds up quickly. It's not cheap unless you get shitty equipment.

Like baseball it can get expensive if you allow the gear to become a hobby. You don't need all the best gear, and fancy expensive sticks to become effective. You need a decent stick so it doesn't bend/shatter, and the head can be average and be effective. The cleats can be FB or Soccer.

Depending on the team there might be a specific helmet, but if you play on it for a while you can use the same one for a few years.

I played outdoor and indoor box lacrosse so I have multiple sticks of different lengths and heads of different widths. Box lacrosse you can bake your head and squeeze it to be pretty narrow. Cheap gloves can wear down fast, but elbow and shoulder pads last a while. I always wore soccer cleats because they were lighter. Our helmets we changed sophomore year and bought through the team so we got a group discount.

That's great news. All of my daughters here in Atlanta play/played. One playing in college and the other 2 in high school.

Based upon what you wrote, it sounds like the sport is still mainly private schools in LA. Here it's both public and private.

Huge explosive growth in the last 10 years.

Are there any high school girls teams?

There's a good number of public high schools/community based teams:

Airline (Bossier)
Capt. Shreve
C.E. Byrd
Parkway
Acadiana Hurricanes (community)
Dutchtown
Central (BR)
Mandeville
Northshore (community)
Ocean Springs (I believe is community)
Lower Alabama (community)

Friendship Capital in BR does not have football & they are fully bought in for football for their boys.

The LA girls teams that I know of are:
Caddo Magnet
C.E. Byrd
SSA
Northshore
Baton Rouge Mustangs (basically St. Joe's girls)
Carrolton (NOLA)
There are likely more, I just don't know them all off the top of my head.

Played at Loyola. I coached for a bit, but I haven't done anything in years.
