Here's the playoff breakdown:

For the West District, as previously stated, #1 seed STM will host Lafayette on Friday night and #2 seed Catholic will host Dutchtown on Saturday.

For the South District, #1 seed Jesuit will host Holy Cross tomorrow night and #2 seed Brother Martin will host Newman on Saturday.

For the East District, #1 seed St. Paul’s will host Ocean Springs and #2 seed Lower Alabama will host Mandeville on Saturday.

For the North District, Loyola will be the #1 seed and host #4 C.E. Byrd, likely on Thursday night. Caddo Magnet will be the #2 seed and host #3 Airline, likely on Friday night.

I love STM's chances to get the finals this year. Hoping the Cougars can just get past CHS in the quarterfinals. I think they have a better shot beating the North District champion than the East and South district champions. FYI: I used to play for STM and coached a couple years afterwards. I love the sport and it pairs well if your a two-sport athlete. I played football in the Fall and lacrosse in the Spring. The sport helped me with my footwork in football tremendously.

Catholic isn’t nearly as strong this year as have been in years past. STM will not have any trouble getting past them.

Catholic & STM played a strong district game this season for 2.5 quarters before STM found their rhythm to run away with it.
As with most sports, it is hard to beat a team twice in a season. STM has a lot riding on this game with Catholic as they're hosting the Final 4, which is essentially home field advantage throughout the playoffs. It will be interesting to see that rematch unfold.

Damn, just typed out a post, and it accidentally highlighted and deleted it.

Cliffs.

Son played for three years, opted out this year, his senior year. Miss it.

STM has some big boys, usually football players, they're rough, they're tough, and hard to beat.

When we started four years ago, there was talk among our directors and coaches that the LHSAA would consider sanctioning lacrosse if the league could get up to 20 teams and keep them. At that time, Archbishop Shaw was considering a program, but since then they haven't done it AND Archbishop Rummel's program has gone on hiatus.

Lax in the Park, Brother Martin's former end-of-season tournament is being sponsored this year by GeauxLax (not the member of this board) and will be held at Shaw. This might give Shaw some impetus.

Redpop4,

Does your son have any interest in playing college lacrosse?
Centenary College of LA (NCAA D3) is starting up. Needs good student-athletes to get the team going in the right direction.

Thank you, I will mention it.
He's currently considering SLU because they have a club team, and almost anyone can play. He's out of shape and even last season didn't play a whole lot.

Loyola wins in OT 9-8.
Byrd played the best game of their season. Goalie Nick Irwin was back in goal from thumb surgery. Loyola had many looks all game that Irwin simply shut down until the final shot.

Loyola plays winner of Caddo vs. Airline.

That's cool, haven't watched it all yet. Would have been fun these last couple years if someone down here could have pulled off something like that.

Love me some Jim Brown blah, blah, blah but lacrosse is a sport for guys who can't run fast, can't jump, can't hit a curve ball, and can't take a real hit...
