The jury is still out on the three QBs taken after Cam, but the first round of this past draft was downright terrific. The only pick that looks really bad at this point is Jacksonville's. Almost everybody else looked to have gotten a solid contributor to their team.
You got guys that look like stars in the making in:
Cam Newton
Von Miller
AJ Green
Patrick Peterson
Aldon Smith
You got solid contributors like:
Marcell Dareus
Julio Jones
Tyron Smith
JJ Watt
Nick Fairley
Robert Quinn
Mike Pouncey
Ryan Kerrigan
Nate Solder
Adrian Clayborn
Phil Taylor
Jonathan Baldwin
Mark Ingram

I would put julio jones as a star in the making. He is starting to catch fire

Cameron Jordan has been coming on lately. He won't be a star but should be solid.

Aldon smith and von miller have been ridiculous

Greg Little also looks to have a promising future if he learns how to catch the ball
Demarco murray was doing well before the injury and the future could be bright for daniel thomas

Locker looks great the times he's actually played.
Also, if it hasn't happened already, I'm sure someone's going to come in and say PP's been awful at corner .

Andy Dalton was a 2nd round pick

PP has been a monster return man but he's been one of the worst CBs in the league.

On the back of yet another impressive display on special teams I’ve heard a number of calls for Patrick Peterson (-1.1) to be named Defensive Rookie of the Year today. There’s only one minor problem with this view; he hasn’t played well as a cornerback so far. This game was no exception; he was thrown at nine times, allowing six receptions for 74 yards and never came close to breaking up a pass. While things could change (as not all the week 12 game data is in) he currently leads all corners in yards allowed with 641. Peterson is also tied for second in penalties given up (his eight equals Cedric Griffin and is one behind Brandon Browner); hardly DROTY material. The truth is he was so far off his man in this game it looked like a deliberate plan to let Brandon Lloyd (+1.3) have whatever he wanted underneath as long as he didn’t give up the big play behind him. If that was the plan it was carried out to the letter. That said, if you have a player of Peterson’s undoubted talent in a dead season when better to let him knock off the rough edges?
If Devin Hester was drafted #5 overall, people would be considered him to be a disappointment because he brings nothing else to the table except his return skills. PP needs to become a better corner before we start labeling him as a stud.

Ahhh...i was looking thinking of the entire draft...not just the first round
misread...my bad

Yeah lots of quality guys as well in the later rounds, but I wanted to point out how it seemed like there really wasn't many bad picks/busts at all in the first round like there usually is and almost everyone got a solid player. Except for the Jaguars who seem to make a habit of making bad first round picks.

Can't believe Hasselbeck was named the starter this week.

People might be correct in thinking he might be forced into moving to Safety

I still remember the Jags taking Reggie Nelson in the first round..I actually thought it was a good pick at the time...wrong

Honestly, I haven't seen Peterson play much at all this year. I was only basing the star in the making thing on the highlights I've seen.

explain to us how it's because of his poor tackling again

If you single-handedly makes plays to win your team 2 games in one season, then you've had a good rookie year.
