Now, more than 4 years later and with an even bigger sale along the way, the role has evolved into something beyond my wildest expectations. Dave's initial idea of a "manager" role had been scrapped 2 weeks into month 1 of the new set-up, when it was clear we needed my pageviews to hit yearly goals. For those next 3 years I led all bloggers in pageviews and engagement, by a factor of at least 2X. But the cost was things slipping through the cracks on the manager side: lawsuits, safeguarding the brand, minimizing exposure to the controversies that advertisers bail over. This was all my responsibility, so once again I had to re-align my focus, and the resulting changes are what laid the groundwork for the most current version of my job: much more than "looking at blogs and posting them" like some people seem to think.
