Just saw an article that UGA and Florids State agreed to cancel their 2027-2028 home and home series.
Another casualty of the expanded playoff. Teams are cancelling big non-conference games because going 7-2 in conference gets you a playoff spot if you go 3-0 vs G5 / FCS in non-conference games

You don't have to impress anymore and why play a CCG if you're just probably gonna meet in the Playoffs?
That's the thing, when you go to these big Playoffs...they become the thing and EVERYTHING.
All those little things in the Season that CFB cultivated and built fanbases on...now gone...(see Notre Dame - USC 100 year rivalry)...the game moves forward for the Teens and Twentysomethings whose instant-gratification syndrome ruins everything culturally.

The death of college football is going to be when this generation of 50-80 year olds pass and the younger generation is left to hold the bucket. The most passionate CFB fans I know are older guys. The younger people just don’t love it like we do, and when we go, so does our money.

A west bank team that was in the top ten the entirety of my 3 year time.
Yes some incredibly comical stuff and a lot of moments with some brevity I ddin't get till I was much older.
