I think it’s pretty clear, LR is going to the NFL after this year. Likely even following his boy wherever he gets drafted. He always struck me as more of an NFL guy

Riley will get chewed up and spit out if he goes to the NFL and has the same 'no defense' mentality there.
Whittingham owns him and he preps his program like an NFL coach would (sound in all 3 phases and is great in close games and situational FB).
Riley will be a slightly better Kliff Kingsbury, if that.

LR gets all this QB guru talk but lets look at it closer.
He had 2 Heismans and a runner up at OU. All 3 were transfers who were groomed by others and already great QBs. Makes it easier to call plays when QBs know football schemes without having to spend a ton of time teaching
His only recruited QBs are Rattler and Williams.
Rattler digressed in his time under Riley. Started good but went downhill. He’s done much better at USCe.
Williams had such raw talent he feasts vs subpar teams and adlibs a ton. Against good teams he struggles when they take away his outside run and put pressure on him. His freelancing doesn’t work as well and won’t work as well in NFL either. But he has digressed since his first year. He won Heisman last year and played great but was exposed in hard games.
Riley has actually feasted off of existing talent but has struggled to fully develop qbs thru 3 years. He feasted off a great title team handed him by Bob and pissed it away in Rose Bowl. And he got worse every year as he lost those hardened Bob Stoops comditioned players. Same with Usc they had some existing good talent harded up by prior conditioning coach and now that Rileys Yoga coach is in year 2 they are softer. Riley cannot run a team. He does not have the ability to get right coaches and fire bad ones.
Usc will continue to decline. My guess is some portal out once season is over and CW declares NFL. He has a ton of money left on contract so usc is stuck with him.

Meh I think he can be successful as a HC. He has a great offensive mind. Plenty of dudes are great HC’s and have nothing to do with the defense. Definitely will have to hire a strong DC. He won’t have to deal with recruiting which I’m sure he’d be happy with.

How? He has around 9/90 left on his contract. Not sure if Usc built in a clause or not but likey did. They created a mess but when you sneak around for months to steal a coach you now have to keep him right?

Look how it turned out, 3 years. Now he works for Riley lol.
Riley would never last 9 years in NFL, which he is roughly making $10m per for next 9 years at usc. He would be stupid to take a pay cut to go to Not For Long league.

Williams is getting plenty but if they don't have a collective that will spread things around they won't get the lines a team needs to be really good.
Probably the same issue at Colorado. Unless Neon doesn't think the trenches are important which is quite likely.
