Just got 10. He's small as shite and can't even find a recruiting profile for him. Doesn't McNeese, Nicholls, or SLu have to take a chance on him as at least a kick returner?

Ponchatoula jumped offsides in three consecutive field goal attempts.

Chalmette made the first
Second was blocked
Chalmette made the third

Fourth was blocked.

This needs to be a rule change. Consecutive offsides penalties needs to be a free play or the option for offense to decline.

West Monroe is looking at 5-5 this year. Crazy to think a school with the resources and enrollment they have has fallen so far down.

Are they really down though? It’s a crazy district

I don’t know if the “free play” is a thing when there’s offsides in Federation rules… if it was NFL rules we should have declined the offside and taken the field goal

Haven’t seen them but ASH is really good this year. WM certainly isn’t the powerhouse they have been. The district has a lot of good teams.

What was this after all the penalties, a 20 yard field goal? Maybe just make it

Must not be but it needs to be. To put the offense in a worse position because of a defensive penalty is absurd.

I have no doubt Ponchy jumped offsides intentionally to ice the kicker without having timeouts, it’s allowed in the rules but it’s a BS rule.

Asking an NFL kicker to kick 4 FGs in a row is a tall order… much less a high school kid

They shortened the field goal by 15 yards to ice the kicker?

Brilliant

Think about it, Ponch really wanted to block it though in that situation. The rules kind of incentivize them to sell out knowing that if the field goal is made, the flag will nullify that… if I’m Tucker, I’ll complain that the official was kind of quick with his flag if the offside didn’t materially affect the field goal (that he made). The official needs to have awareness in that situation to wait to see if the field goal is good if the call will benefit the kicking team but kill the play and take points off the board

Knowing now that high school doesn’t have the free play rule, it made total sense for the to do this..

Closer to 10 because of half the distance…

And on most HS teams… the pressure for a game winning FG weighs more than the yardage, especially if you have to kick it 4x.

Of which, he made it twice.

When we got to the 1, maybe we should have rethought the field goal and tried to run for the touchdown…( I doubt they would have stopped #1 Darensburg from there) that has a higher probability of success in HS than depending on the snap-hold-kick operation

Either way we didn’t really deserve the win IMO… we were lacking on offense all night against a team everyone else so far put up more points on.

But we signed up for the Northshore district and nights like this… even if Ponchatoula was technically not a district game but kind of was we got away with too much playing Jefferson Parish teams that weren’t sharp enough to make us pay. We’ll probably change a few things on offense, like using #1 and #7 and #5 more. We’ll run more Wild Owl with #4 at QB. I know you want to keep guys happy but we haven’t been giving the ball enough to our best players in close games such as the past few weeks
