LHSAA playoffs question

Does the higher seed team always have home field?
Posted on 11/12/09 at 8:39 pm to BitterMaverick
No. Home field goes by 1) Who traveled last; 2) Who traveled most; 3) Then seed.
At least I think. Obviously, first round higher seed gets home field.

No. For example, I will give you 4 teams at the top of the 5A bracket...
#1 Rummel
#32 Captain Shreve
Captain Shreve travels in the 1st round because Rummel is the higher seed.
#16 Jesuit
#17 Airline
Airline travels in the 1st round because Jesuit is the higher seed.
If Rummel were to win, and Jesuit were to win, Jesuit would travel because Rummel is the higher seed.
Should Captain Shreve beat Rummel, and Jesuit beats Airline, Jesuit would travel because Captain Shreve traveled in round 1.
Should Rummel beat Captain Shreve and Jesuit loses to Airline, Rummel would travel to Airline because Airline traveled in round 1.
Should both Captain Shreve, and Airline win, Airline would be home next week even though both traveled in round 1 due to higher seed.
Hope this helped.

Higher seed gets home field in the first round.
After that it goes: if both teams were at home the previous week, the higher seed is home. If both teams were on the road, the higher seed is at home.
The seeding doesn't matter when one team was on the road and the other was at home, regardless of seed, the team that was on the road will be at home.

it is retarded but the principals defend it in the name of "fairness"

Evangel was a 2 seed one year and only played the 1st round at home. All other games were on the road.

JJ. Got a question about Captain Shreve. Did they give a shite vs. Ouachita? The three films we got were vs. Pineville, Ouachita, and Airline. The team that played Airline and Pineville seemed like a different team than the one that played Ouachita.
Is Ouachita that good? Or are Pineville and Airline more on Captain Shreve's level? Thanks.

WM was up 47-0 in the 3rd and pulled their starters. 47-12 final.

Pineville
WM was up 21-0 after 4 minutes and pulled their starters because their coach played QB for Shows at Pineville and NSU.

Airline
Final was 35-7, but was a MUCH better game. Airline is the best of the 3 imo. Ouachita was dominated and got extremely lucky to beat Airline. Down the entire game and had some ridiculous lucky breaks to win that game 21-17.
Captain Shreve was never in it against WM either so it's tough to gauge those teams when you strictly see them against WM. I do remember Shreve having a big QB that could sling it, he just didn't have any help. I look for Rummel to win by 10-14 tomorrow. You need to really hope Jesuit wins too though. If Airline can go on the road and win...look out. I don't think you want to travel from NOLA to Bossier and play them. I had to work that night and didn't go to that game, but I think they are on the large side. You've seen film of Airline, how do you think you match up?

I don't like how we match up with anybody really offensively.
That being said, I haven't really payed too much attention to Airline. It's also hard to tell sizes because Shreve gave us all wide shots.
Also I caught the West Monroe vs. Shreve game and had to laugh a little bit at one of the calls. The one where the Shreve QB fumbled out the side of the endzone on 3rd and long, and the ref called it a touchback. 1st and 10 Shreve on the 20. Funny watching Shows trying to get an explanation.

Article from Ouachita vs Airline:
Twenty-six flags flew through the air Friday night in the District 1-5A game between Airline and Ouachita.
Ouachita’s Quinton Wheeler and Timothy McNeil nullified all the dirty laundry with one big throw and catch.
The Lions’ pass-and-catch combo connected on a 35-yard, fourth-down prayer for the game-winning touchdown in Ouachita’s 21-17 win at Viking Stadium.
“I was scared,” McNeil said. “Before the play, (receiver Justin Ginyard) gave me the confidence. He said, ‘Yo, get your head in the game.’”
Airline defensive back Cortez Moore had perfect position on the play, but the 6-foot-5 McNeil had too much height. Moore appeared to get a hand on the ball, but McNeil snagged the rebound with little trouble, stunning what, just moments earlier, had been a raucous atmosphere.
McNeil’s catch was the second out-of-the-ordinary score the Lions in nine minutes.
Leading by 11, Airline (5-3, 2-3) had the ball at its 37 after forcing the Lions’ into a three-and-out.
On the Vikings’ first offensive play, Albert Robinson fumbled and Ouachita linebacker Teron Bell, who was crashing in on a run blitz, plucked the ball out of the air and cruised 40 yards for a momentum-shifting TD.
“They got two lucky plays,” said Airline coach Mike Greene, whose team outgained Ouachita, 224-175. “We’ll play ’em again next week if they want to. Those things happen. It wasn’t lack of effort. The game played out how we knew. We didn’t account for the crazy bounces of the ball. We played everything like we wanted to and the ball just bounces crazy.”

That's the play I came on here and said was the worst call I've ever seen and Arrakis actually tried to defend the ref.

Yeah, he's the one that ran his mouth about WM in 1997. Said they beat us in a scrimmage before the season 28-7. So Shows threw all over him and won 60-0. He then said he'd never play WM ever again blah, blah, blah. We used to play spring game and scrimmage in the fall every year.
Anyway, obviously WM and Airline ended up in the same district.

eff you, that's why Opelousas Catholic is going to beat Curtis in the second round. Curtis hasn't won a game in Opel yet. (PS - I'm pretty sure the only time Curtis has played in Opelousas, they played Opelousas High with Benny Guilbeau (Notre Dame) and Robert Hammond(Florida State) and Head Coach Larry Dauterieve (Perrilloux's HS coach)) But still. John Curtis has never won in Opelousas, so OC will beat them in the 2nd round.

That's awesome. Anyway, I appreciate the responses. Have fun Friday night vs. Bro Mart.

I hope so. I'll definitely be there for that one. I would love to see them pull it out.

yeah they aren't really going to beat them, I just wanted to remind the JC guys here that they aren't invincible, especially in Opelousas. (BTW, they will donkey punch OC and beat them by like 40)
