And that's what I'm saying. Junior high parents aren't just going to the school they're zoned for blindly anymore. They're considering what offense/defense that team runs, who's ahead of them, how soon they'll see the field, etc. I think that's smart. If you have a son that is a legit QB you don't want him running the option at WM or Curtis. Same with a WR. It's smart parenting IMO.
I'm just saying open it up to everyone, public and private. Free for all recruiting, before they enroll as freshman. Once they're at the school though, they should stick with it. The school also should stick with who they have and not go out and recruit a highly touted player to replace an upcoming senior that busted his arse for you for 3 years.
Just my opinion.

Also, what about the kid that moves to the state 9th grade year? There are so many ways to not know what you are walking into.

Legit move into state or another wonder kid that falls into the lap mysteriously for Calvary? Back to back years a Texas kid moves into Shreveport for them. This one has already committed to Arizona as a sophomore.

if you're at a shitty school and become a prospect you shouldn't be stuck there...

Like Mo Claiborne? Tredavious White? You think if you become a prospect you should be able to bounce and go to Curtis/ECA/WM?
Gotta disagree with you vehemently and I've seen every WM game since 1984.

I know of a family moving into LA from GA this summer. Legit move, guy took a position at a local college. Kid is a good athlete though. If this kid goes to school for the first semester and realizes he doesn't like the school, what does he do?

I will answer as if I was the parent. Before moving I would look up every school in the area's record the last 5 years. Then I would set up meetings with the head coach at as many programs as I was interested in for my son. At that meeting I would ask what type of offense they run, who they have returning, and ask for game film if possible. I'd take my son with me and tour the facilities and let him meet the coach. I'd ask the coach if he would have a shot to start on the freshman team. I'd ask how long it would take him to play on the varsity team. Then is sit down and weigh all the options. I'd pick a school and rent an apartment in their area. If it worked out I'd buy a house after his 2nd year. If it didn't I'd move to the parish over and start the process over again.
Personally, that's how I would approach the situation.

You have a lot of time, and a lot of patience, and obviously enough money in the bank to take off that amount of time from work!

Hated the move then as did most of that team. WM was back to back champions and returned 17 starters. They were going to walk to state that year. 15 years later and Bradie is all anyone remembers.

You get 2 weeks off or so. I could knock that out in a week honestly. If I was moving to Shreveport, NOLA, Baton Rouge, or Monroe I could knock it out in a day or two.

you would have to have an exceptional kid to get that kind of in depth feedback from most coaches or administrators.....

You could meet with all area coaches in NOLA (supposing they had time to meet), watch film, scout the facilities, talk about spots on the team and academics, find an apartment, and more in a day or 2? Haha, sorry, but that's kind of funny.

You missed the part where I said teams I was interested in checking out. NOLA it would be Curtis, Jesuit, maybe Brother Martin. Baton Rouge PBS and Catholic. Monroe Neville, WM, OCS. Shreveport Evangel and Calvary.
