Hahnville 95/03, Destrehan 07/08, Thibodaux 91, Carencro 92, Shaw 87 right?

Actually Hahnville was 94 & O3, lost championship game in 95 (Barbier had left). They also won 4 A in 92

it seems to me that since eca moved down they would have an easier time winning

WM had 8 turnovers against Sulphur in 06 and 9 against Acadiana in 07. They lost by 7 in both games. Last year WM lead for most of the title game. Destrehan made 2 big plays in the 4th to win the game. Not exactly a power shift imo. WM is weaker than they were in the 90's due to holdbacks being illegal after 6th grade now. It's taken a while for the kids holding back in 5th grade to get back into the program, that's why you see the lull. Now they're back in full swing and you'll see WM return.

i meant overall in general not necessarily in 5a... I do feel that in 5a WM is the only school above alexandria that competes year in and out... Now in the lower classes i feel that they are dominated by the south

Also, Neville, Ruston, Ouachita, and Bastrop all dropped to 4A which forced WM to play against MUCH weaker competition in district. The Shreveport teams pale in comparison to the teams listed above. This has taken it's toll on WM's strength imo.

What caused a drop in attendance at those schools?

Their is a 6A and 7A in Arkansas eventhough the schools aren't any bigger and there are only 16 per class. Play 3 7A schools and get 12 extra total points.

don't work like that... the LHSAA will call, verify their enrollment, and give them the appropriate classification under our numbers

they can't go any higher than 5A

and as for speed, i remember the st. aug west monroe semifinal in 2000 on a beautiful saturday afternoon at tad gormley stadium, broadcast live on TV, st. aug might have had the most talented team in HS history with 10 D1 players, but west monroe shut them out. michael franklin from st. aug broke loose, but a WM linebacker caught him from behind so fast, it was scary

Evangel disbanded

they owned 5A, including West Monroe

it seems that West Monroe is a notch below what they once were too, not sure how to explain that

Ouachita is back in 5A. Ruston was always a small 5A school on the cusp. Neville was always a smaller school playing up. Bastrop dropped down after WM destroyed them back to back years in the late 90's.

Hey JJ you never answered my questions:

JJ I've seen you post a couple of times about power rankings so I assume you know more than most. Got a few questions???

1. Always heard playing up a classification works in a team's favor win or lose. Is that correct?

2. If so how does it affect the higher classification team like Acadiana and Dutchtown who both played Parkview? Acadiana loss big while Dutchtown won big...Now this week you have Central 5A taking on Capitol 2A...

3. How does power points work for a team who travels out of state and to take on a ranked team from a lower classification like when Catholic traveled to play Florida's top ranked 4A team Park Forest?

playing up works in your favor, but playing down doesn't hurt you

you get more points for beating an 0-10 1A team than by losing by one to a 9-1 5A team (if you're in 5A)

if a team is in florida 4A or w/e, the LHSAA calls them and verifies their enrollment, and places them in the appropriate class based on louisiana numbers

They really do look like a college team along the lines. Great playmakers in Turner, Cain, and Talton. It will take a ton of turnovers-and we've seen them do this in the past-for them to lose this year.
