I realize this will vary from team to team but in general do the north LA teams come in the night before? Or make the drive on game day?

Ruston drove in last year and looked like they were sleepwalking the entire game. We played both teams and the Ruston in the Dome wasn't the same one we saw. I still had Central winning regardless, but I would think they drive in this year.

I realize the dream is to play in the Dome and it also is weather proof but having the championship at Tulane stadium was way better atmosphere.
all of the college venues were better atmospheres.

Five things to know ahead of the LHSAA Prep Classic
December 10, 2025
By Grant Chachere

NEW ORLEANS — The 45th LHSAA Prep Classic kicks off Thursday, as 16 teams across eight divisions vie for state championships at the Caesars Superdome.

The week promises plenty of excitement, featuring perennial contenders such as Haynesville, Karr, Ruston and St. Charles, along with first-time finalists Iowa and Jena making their debut appearances on the championship stage.

Only eight teams will ultimately capture state titles, setting the stage for a thrilling weekend at the Dome. With countless storylines unfolding, here are some key things to know before the Prep Classic begins.

quote:

The Return of the Purple

For the first time since 1979, St. Augustine (12-1) has shattered the glass ceiling and advanced to the state finals. ...

quote:

Five Area Schools Aim for Glory

Along with St. Augustine, Edna Karr, Shaw, St. Charles, and Riverside Academy will compete for state championships this week at the Caesars Superdome. ...

quote:

318 Invasion

The “318 Invasion” is on. Eight teams sporting the 318 area code have journeyed south to New Orleans for the Prep Classic—marking the largest northern contingent since the LHSAA’s infamous split. ...

quote:

Acadiana Absentia

or the first time since 2001, not a single high school program from the Lafayette metropolitan area will take the field at the LHSAA Prep Classic. ...

Depends on the teams involved imo. How many do you expect Saturday for Karr/St. Aug? I would expect people in the 3rd deck.

I know they are smaller schools, but the opening Thursday slate is loaded.

quote:

Haynesville vs. Mangham (Div IV Non-Select)

Mangham must really hate Haynesville. They’ve made many deep runs in the playoffs over the span of decades, only to be knocked out by Haynesville, including in the 2013 and 2014 title games.

However, Haynesville is desperate and focused on returning to the top. They’re coming off of back to back runner-up finishes in ‘23 and ‘24 to add to their championship losing streak. Their last title was that 2014 game against Mangham.
It’s been over a decade since Haynesville won a championship.
quote:

Riverside vs. Ascension Catholic (Div IV Select)

Riverside is making their seventh trip to the Dome, but their only victory was in 2016. That’s a lot of good teams in their recent history, but only one title.

Ascension Catholic is making their first trip back since back to back losses to LCA in the 2017 and 2018 title games. Seeking their first title since 1992.

quote:

Dunham vs. Calvary Baptist (Div III Select)

There’s a pattern devolving with these opening day games, and Dunham certainly fits in. A lot of success, especially in recent years, but no ultimate prize. They lost this game to Catholic-NI last year, and to St. Charles in 2022. Dunham is seeking their first title since 2004.

Calvary Baptist is the outlier. Every other team playing today has experienced multiple disappointments since their last state title. Calvary has played in this game four times in recent years, and won a championship in all four of those appearances.

West Monroe’s former HC Kevin Davis is the OL coach at Mangham. Pulling for KD always.

Its around $11 cheaper to buy in advance online, iirc.

It's $34.50 on ticketmaster ($30 plus $4.50 fees), so would it be $41 face value at the box office?

Bo Meeks, former Ruston QB, Northwestern State QB, and Airline head coach is their OC.

Kenny Bell was a speedy WR for Alabama during the AJ McCarron years. He’s also on staff, and somehow already has two sons on the team.

Coach Meeks had people all over the state praying for him When he stepped down at Airline to battle cancer. Great to see him on the sidelines again.

This first game wild. Every time I look up, someone is scoring.

Isiah Washington has two long TDs, one on a QB run, the other on a long pick 6 return.

KJ Bell from Mangham has also been impressive, along with their scrappy QB.
