2004 Michigan was the perfect opponent to look amazing against.

All white Notre Dame that year made them look slow.

A bad Ohio State team beat them easily.

San Diego State almost beat them.

Their wins were against some of the worst teams in the Big10. One of the worst teams to ever play in the Rose Bowl.

That game was his coming out party. Imo that rose bowl game is a top 5 game all time..

He must have finally figured things out that game because he was definitely nothing special his junior year as a quarterback. 11 TD passes and 10 interceptions in the regular is just straight up bad. I am surprised Texas did not bench Vince Young his junior year.

And yet it took this superhuman performance by Vince Young to beat them on a walk off field goal.

That was his coming out party, people forget that Young was benched at one point midway through that 2004 season. He was not a competent passer really until 2005. That 2004 season was all Cedric Benson and Young’s improvisational running.

Pretty sure you’re confusing his Junior season with his sophomore one, but he also rushed for 1000 yards and Chance Mock was his backup. Vince was not going to lose the starting job based on his upside. Seems like it was the right call.
