It’s not a given at all he would have more division titles than Brees if he had played with the same caliber of god awful defenses.

That wasn't the question.

Cam wouldn't be any better playing his entire career for offensive genius Sean Payton?

Nope... He is a selfish bitch.... He is NOT a leader.

Idk. What does Sean Payton do with a qb with nowhere near the passing ability. If he ran the same exact vertical scheme it would be a disaster. If he catered to his qb's abilities then it's probably not a ton better than what he's doing in Carolina

See the thing is the average QB now averages more total yards now then they did even a decade ago. For example Matthew Stafford averages more yards than anyone on that list besides Brees.

The other thing to consider is all those guys don’t run nearly as much as Newton and, with the exception of Rodgers, have played way more games than him. Considering a massive chunk of his yards and TDs compared to the others are from rushing and the fact that those rushing number averages are only going to go down the latter half of his career, his overall averages are probably going to decline as well.

Go back to the original commenin which Bowl was trying to argue for Newton by saying he has more division titles than Brees. That’s what I was referring too.

I trust Sean Payton's ability to scheme an offense for the talent on the offense, certainly better than what Cam's had in Carolina.

Wrong again, peej. If he plays to 35 he'll be borderline first ballot. Hope you're still kicking when it happens to see another one of your predictions fail

You should be thanking him. Cam is lock for the HOF now

I hear you, but a large part of what makes great is his rushing. He's obviously not a great passer but he's a dominant goal line back and a damn good rusher.

That's why I said what I said earlier. For him to get in the hall, he has to keep the rushing numbers up, which is going to be a tough task considering the pounding he takes.

I gotcha.

I was referring to just his ability.

Find me a quote that portrays me as a Cam homer.

ETA: Once you get past the "HE'S A BITCH" and "HE'S A LOSER" posts, you really don't have anything to add. And you hold yourself out as an NFL expert.

His injuries are already affecting his play. Because he’s a dual threat (also takes more hits leading to a higher injury chance because of that) he relies on his legs more so than most QBs, and he’s not going to be able to do that the older he gets. He isn’t really the greatest passer either.

All good points, but last season with the first legit OC he's had in his entire career in Norv Turner he put up the second best passer rating of his career behind only a season in which he won the MVP, and that was with a bum shoulder.

Now that he's getting older and the Panthers have Mccaffery to take off some of the load you'll see less emphasis on designed run plays for Cam, this will give him more practice time to dedicate towards passing. Also for the first time in his career the Panthers are actively working on trying give him an NFL worthy OL, and his WRs last season were playing as well as any he's had to work with since year 2 when Steve Smith was still there.

All that said, his passing numbers from this point forward should be much better than they were in the first half of his career.

Same could be said about Brees if he had to play in the god awful offenses that Cam has had to work with.

Brees 5'11" would have been broken and out of the league 5 years ago if he had to play behind the OLs that Cam has

That’s not the same thing. Newton at least can impact his offense. Brees doesn’t play defense. And it’s not like his offensive supporting cast were the worst in history. Brees’ defenses were. My main point is trying to argue one guy is better than the other because his team has won more division titles isn’t the best argument.
