Self-proclaimed King should be the best not one of the best.
He brought mug of this on himself, but he is a great talent historically. No one is denying that. He is simply not the best.

Duncan Robinson made 6 or more 3s 18 times this season.

No duh he's gonna finish as a top 5 player of all-time, at best no. 3
quote:
Lebron gave up the ball in the game winning scenario in a closeout game of the finals.
The D the Heat employed was specifically designed to take the ball out of his hands, had 3 guys literally lurking by the basket on the baseline, would've been insane for him to risk a turnover or shoot a bad shot
quote:
it was uncharacteristic for a Jordan-esq player.
Jordan's given the ball up to players like Steve Kerr and Pippen in game-winning scenarios, John Paxson took the shot to win in 93
quote:
Looking back at some of the recent greats even Kobe comes to mind, no chance anyone but the mamba takes that shot.
Greatest bad shot taker ever

He should finish the job this year. If he adds one more after that, I think he is 1 and 1A with MJ due to the championships in multiple cities and longevity. Also, at that point, I think he gets credit for the extra finals appearances. It's better to lose in the finals than earlier, but people on this board don't seem to understand that.
I think he needs to win 3 straight to truly enter the top 1 conversation, next to never losing in the Finals, that's something MJ did which LeBron didn't, if he goes on a fourpeat, that helps the argument further, MJ never did that

He is about to win a title with a third separate franchise, with a third seperate head coach
Tremendous accomplishment no matter how one spins it
quote:
All of those teammates weren’t winning shite until he showed up
Ehhhhh all of them were newly created super teams when he arrived (exception of 2019 Lakers) so that's a little misleading
quote:
they instantly all went to not winning shite again when he left
Cleveland (first time): pretty much a team solely built around LeBron and Mo Williams never matured to a point where he could function like Pippen when MJ left, also they changed coaches from Mike Brown to Byron Scott and Danny Ferry resigned as GM so wayyyy different context by which to judge
Miami: Wade got old and Bosh with the blood clot pretty much sank the team there
Cleveland: no Kyrie and K-Love reached the end of his "prime" was time to go
quote:
MJ may have been better than lebron
At their peaks, both were the greatest we ever saw, I think MJ's better because he combined that with the killer will at all times (homicidal competitiveness) whereas LeBron tended to vacillate a ton in that regard so I'd def pick Mike with my life on the line
quote:
but no individual in any team sports history has proven they can bring tittles to multiple places like Lebron
Kareem?
Shaq?
Kawhi?
Dennis Johnson?
Don't get me wrong it's a legendary accomplishment but may be skewed nowadays because of the prevalence of free agency, who knows what would have happened if Bird, Magic, Jordan, Isiah, etc could move between teams? Probably multiple championships with multiple teams as well.

quote:why should we penalize Bron for us being smarter now than when MJ played?
That’s a great point B, I forgot to note the load management in his time at Miami and second run in Cleveland. That he didn’t play the full 82 game schedule

then have MJ over Bill Russell.
MJ has the rings and doubled as the league's best offensive player and (arguably) defensive player while he did it, this isn't some rocket science game, he was the total package Russell was not when it came to offense

I'll never understand how someone can say this
Um did LeBron ever do this? bc I know MJ did it TWICE while also functioning as the league's best offensive and defensive player

really only look at titles
LOL incredibly obtuse for you to actually conclude this

Hell I'm even questioning whether he's superior to Tim Duncan now who STILL has more titles than him.

Jordan is the best to ever do it. If you lived in his era and got a chance to watch him play we wouldn't even waist time having this discussion.
LeBron is also great. But compared to Mike in basketball and basketball only, like MC Hammer say, "Can't touch this".

I mean we have the talent, accolades, and production by both players down, no? Now we address the team accomplishments, championships, please keep up
quote:
it's obtuse to think your stance was about rings?
Bc the argument was never only about rings but now that we addressed the other components, we shift to rings, that's how we distinguish and make our points DUH!!

I mean comparing them directly is apples to oranges since both are really different players but at their zenith they're the best we've ever seen
quote:

How am I made foolish here? Do you remember that since early in the 91 season, MJ never lost three in a row again in a Bulls uniform, including playoffs? That record will never be duplicated nor exceeded.

The argument=/=entire post but you inferred correctly about the respective resumes and talent so will credit you there. The titles and two three peats (both which LeBron never did or approached) set MJ apart.
