I was looking at the profile for tomorrow; there is a Cat 1 that peaks with 15 miles left (Ballon d'Alsace), and it is basically a descent from there. If Pog picks up 30s at the summit, he could win tomorrow.

Has Cofidis won a stage yet? Is it too early to start banging on them again?

Or should we start hammering Movistar or Astana?

ETA:

At least Cofidis, much like EuroCar, would get in breakaways daily, only to lose by failing. Movistar and Astana have been just gutless for the last decade or so.

Lance got some words on that... and he ain't wrong.

lance may be a little out of touch. juniors coming up now didn't grow up idolizing or watching lance dominate. he's the guy from dad's era who cheated and got caught and banned. even juniors here in the US (and honestly at least out west NICA is siphoning talent/resources from USAC right now so road racing isn't even cool anymore even where you can find road races) only know lance second hand from dad and uncles. the vibe i get is that the Gen Z cyclists don't know much about Lance and more importantly don't care.

This is about Tadej, and saying Tadej isn't keenly aware of the #7 is like suggesting the Manx Missile didn't know who the Cannibal was and didn't know the #34.

So funny. Phil spent the last 30 minutes of the climb saying Pog didn't look like Pog (desperately wanting a bike race to break out this year), and Tadej casually puts 44/54 seconds into Jonas at the end.

There might not be much drama in the GC race this year, but it is damn impressive to watch.

Tomorrow ends with an HC climb...

The ITT on Tuesday (rest day on Monday) starts with a ~10k at over 4% climb . We could see even more fireworks from Pog before we get back to the mountains on Thursday.

I noticed the official site has Wednesday (stage 17) listed as flat, but it has 2200m of climbing, three 4th cats and a 3rd cat climb. That is just rubbing the face of mere mortals like us in a big pile of poo.

They were trying to get Del Toro the stage win but he couldn't shake Remco off. By then it was too late for Tadej to go for the win

Does Sepp or Mateo get the GC leadership now of Visma with Jonas injured?

I feel badly for Jonas. One of the nicest and most talented guys in cycling.

He was woken up at 2:00 AM for a freaking drug test. BS.

Depends on your sleep cycle; I would rather get woken at 2 than 5. Also, if you believe the riders, Jonas was able to go back to sleep and Tadej was not.

If the ITA doesn't have the resources to wake and test ALL of the top 10 at the same time then they shouldn't do it. I understand the need for middle of the night testing because of the crazy short elimination periods some PEDs have now but you have to do it with some manner of fairness to the competitors.

Sir Bradley was correct in his prediction that Jonas would not finish the Tour, though obviously the reason was not what he had in mind. Collarbones are the bane of roadie skeletal systems.

Tadej did what he could for Del Torro but it wasn't to be. I know there are a lot of unusual factors but watching Remco ride and watching his face today had a tiny bit of Floyd stage 17 in '06 coming to mind. He came right on a big day I just didn't see coming. He has looked like he was laboring all tour so far. He put the final stamp on who's the boss at Red Bull.

Sad for Quinn, sad for Jonas, sad for Del Torro, sad for doping control happy for Remco. The race for the podium positions just heated up.

They are going to go in breaks on the mountain stages.

i see Remco winning tomorrow but I also expect Tadej to do well. Top 3 should be Remco, Tadej, and maybe Ganna although Ganna hasnt looked great so far so we will see

Ganna has been laying low waiting for this TT. Having said that, ask Ganna about that little midget and his success against him? I expect Remco to bet Ganna again.

Forgive me if I am being too stupid, but would this be a great stage for a TTT prologue?

Start it in the Mercyx Velodrome in Ghent, do 2 or 3 laps, exit the tunnel, ride the 65 km to Roubaix, and finish with a lap or 2 in the Velodrome.

But relatively flat, can maintain the true rules of a TTT and incorporates 2 famous Velodromes and the most famous name in cycling

Another type of stage I would love to see for Stage 20 is

150 km individual Time Trial with time bonuses and 50-meter drafting.

Start it like a true pursuit; your leader starts first, the 2nd-place guys start the time back, etc...

First one to cross the line is your winner and rides 21 as the champ.

I guess the top 20 start this way or top 10 and the rest would group start and just go after each other for the funsies and memes
