The first few decades of college football were extremely disorganized. It was hard to fill out a schedule. Many Universities had games against high schools, athletic clubs, fire departments, all sorts of shite. Different parts of the country played under different rules and stuff too.

The very first incarnation of the NCAA didn't appear till 1906 and that's when there began being a semblance of structure.

Wut...half the teams had losing records against nobodies.

Tennessee was 4-4 against Tennessee medical college. Marie, your Mother's best friend and they lost to Bama 7-0.

The first recognized CFB champion in the SEC was Auburn as late as 1957 followed by LSU.

Bama was the 3rd school to be recognized as National Champions in the SEC in 1961 (their first)...per the AP which started in 1936.

Lots of teams played high schools back then. I wanna say Arkansas' first game was against Fort Smith high or something. They'd beat us if we played now but yeah...

Auburn once lost to Centre High.

I spent some time studying and researching American football because I wanted to understand how the game evolved from 1869 to 1920. I found Walter Camp's book and read parts. I found an even more early book on the Rules of Foot-Ball and read parts.

What I learned was that the Rules of our game were not very well standardized before 1913. The years 1910 to 1913 were very important in the development of the game that we would recognize today as our game.

Hopefully the baws from Grinnell invited the Gophers to get in their horse-drawn carriages and saunter down to Sonic to check knuckles.

Nah, they made it up during basketball season (Grinnell College is known for its high scoring offense, having a player score 100 points in a game TWICE).

He's a sports radio host in Atlanta (from Philly) and also has a CBS Sports Radio show on Sundays.

Also does a podcast with Shaq.

Nope. Here's a picture of Alabama being presented with the Rissman Trophy after winning the Rose Bowl in January 1935.

Frank Dickinson's ranking system started in 1926 (10 years before the AP poll) and was printed in newspapers across the country.

I know. I detailed that when I mocked Gooherhole’s football forum which is called “7 national titles football forum.”

It was the subject of mockery on big ten boards when they changed from 6 to 7.

A "title" claimed 108 years after the fact is more legitimate than finishing #1 in the AP?
