How convenient of him to be recording while playing his cards.
I don’t blame him for recording. In this day and age you either have to have a recording or a paper trail of emails, texts, etc to cover your arse. Of course, I don’t agree with him using the mental health excuse to justify not being at practice, and there is a difference between recording to cover your arse and recording to use against someone.

So now we just get outraged at any recordings? I don't understand what in that transcript anyone should take offense to.
So the kid skips out for weeks then records the first conversation with his coach after? He was setting up a lawsuit from the very beginning

If the kid has documentation about his mental health he has every right to go awol
No, bubb, you don't. There are steps to take with FMLA. First, you notify your employer of your need for leave. Then, they hand you a WH381 notifying you of your eligibility for FMLA. They'll also hand you a WH380 to have your medical provider confirm the need for leave. If accepted, you then receive a WH382 that approves (or denies, perhaps) the FMLA leave.
In the event of an accepted leave request, the individual on leave has the responsibility to inform the employer of their status and intent to return to work. Going AWOL generally results in job abandonment or voluntary termination.
There's no reason to look as silly as you have in this thread, all of this information is public.

Mental health is covered under FMLA, but you or someone acting on your behalf (i.e. HR) has to notify your boss. You also have to submit paperwork documenting the necessity of the leave and it has to be approved by your boss. It doesn’t allow you to just not show up or respond to your boss’s attempts to reach you.

God I love Kiffin more and more...

Modern psychiatry and medical science have established that mental health is also physical health. If Rollins came down with Leukemia you can bet your arse that Kiffin and Ole Miss would shower him with love and support and turn this into an advantage for Ole Miss with good PR.
There are procedures to be followed and this kid didn’t follow them. I would assume a good communist such would understand that.

Kiffin gave him some tough love.

Called him a pussy. Kiffin forgot they were Rebels.

Kiffin actually handled that like I am imagining any boss or head coach would in that situation. People think that they are special, irreplaceable, and entitled to whatever it is they think they deserve. When reality comes crashing down on them, they either have a mental crisis, or try and lash out at people they feel wronged by.

The way it seems this was handled seems to be more about lack of accountability in a major college football program than somebody having a mental breakdown. Especially when services were provided to the dude.
Exactly, it’s kind of hard for a head coach to correctly handle a player having “mental issues” when that player refuses to meet with him for weeks

This guy Rollins just seems like a wimp, I don't see where Kiffin was wrong here at all.

I can see someone that's never taken paternity leave or done anything remotely related to FMLA before in your life.
you can't just not show up for weeks then show back up and Michael Scott-style declare FMLA.

Not a single problem with what Kiffen said.
And the fact the kid was apparently trying to leverage his "issue" to keeping his position tells me this is all horseshite.
I hope Ole Miss tells this kid and his mom to frick themselves

I see absolutely nothing wrong with what Kiffin said. Im sure, however, they're going to be calling for his head because the country we now live in is filled with Twats.

Just read where the kid wants $10 million in compensatory damages and $30 million in punitive damages.

He filed in MS, right?

His lawyers must be a butthurt LSU or MS College law school graduate.
