I said on a number of occasions before this past season that Cliff Harris is the most overrated defensive back in the country by far...he showed a lack of position discipline on the field and at times showed poor technique in games
Bull fricking shite!
Cliff Harris may of been a lower level poor tackler(because of his size and lite weight)and he may of had a ego problem/maturity issues, and he might of been a little too much of a risk taker at times... All this, i will not deny or debate as it is true.
However also true, He was one very special CB. He lead the Nation in pass brake ups/defended passes for a reason. He was tops in interceptions also for a reason. As a side note, he lead all major AQ Conferences in Punt Return TD's. The kid never had the fastest 100m track speed on the planet, but he was for sure ultra quick! He was thus, more quick then superfast, though very respectable in the latter. He could turn his hips on a dime. Yes he did not back-peddle much, but used other methods to cover. And those other methods did not seem to stop him being such a ferocious pass defender and ball-hawk. Bottom line, he was as pure a ball hawk as you may ever get to witness. What truly made him special was his instincts and amazing ball hawking ability, along with his great running ability/elusiveness once he snagged a pick.
He was 1st team All American. And before his 118mph joy ride/smoking Pot stunt, he was predicted to be a 1st round draft pick. In truth, he may not end up being a great NFL CB, as he is pretty small and lite and cannot tackle all too well. However, to even remotely debate that Cliff Harris sucked as a CB, while in College, is pure laughable. One does not make 1st team All American and lead the country in so many categories/or near lead, and be a joke of a player. Cliffy has picked off, Jake Locker, Matt Barkley, Andrew Luck and Cam Newton; not including many other great ones. Those guys were incredible CFB QB's and will be incredible NFL ones. Send me a memo when you, who think Cliffy sucks, can make such a boast. The guy has literally picked off the best of the best QB's...
If one is able to watch these two short video clips of Cliffy and think he sucked, then such a man does not even follow the game of CFB very much!
The first is a small highlight video, which did not include many highlights, such as the BCS title game in which he snagged one pick from Can Newton, and also snagged another in the most special way- though it was called that he went out of bounds doing so. The Second video is of just that special play. Watch it when it goes in slow motion and notice his quickness and ball-hawking ability, even if in the end he did not get his official 2nd pick in that Natty as a result.

TRACK SPEED!

Oregon has vy far the most overrated program of the last 3-5 years. They are the Boise State of BCS schools.

You are full on retard...
Oregon has lead the whole Nation in Offense several times in that span and The last 3 years we have also won the PAC-10/12 all 3 years in a row with our new Head Coach. He has taken us to the Rose Bowl, BCS Title game(in which we lost by a game winning FG as time expired and by 3 points)and another Rose Bowl.
So for Chip Kelly's first 3 seasons, he has taken us to 3 straight BCS bowl games. We also have been a top 5 National program the last 3 years(and 5 years ago too). Now please, with all this data, please try to tell me again how we are the most overrated program? Or let me guess, with SEC logic, if out of 120 teams one team does not win a Natty in a stretch then that must mean they suck...

Your track stars suck on the football field and when they are put out at the Combine in an event that is suppose to show off their "track speed" they are slower than half the players there.
Damn Quack Addict.

Typical SEC deflection and spin. Once a retarded post is made by a SEC fanboy, and it is easily refuted by simple facts and logic, then the retard SEC fanboy quickly retreats into a different topic and deflects from the original moronic claim and boasts the familiar, "we have 6 BCS titles".....

That is not true. Cliffy was not one of our track guys, even though he is incredibly quick(but not amazingly fast). LMJ was a former UO track guy at one time though. And for his position, he tied for second at it among them all. And as stated yesterday by me, LMJ is more a noted 100m and 200m runner. However with the way the NFL combine goes and the way they do it there, getting a official 4.45 and unofficial 4.37 is not too shabby. And btw, unlike what some posters posted earlier today, I never said the 200m had anything to do with Football. I was just saying he is more noted for his speed once further down the gate, such as a 100m or 200m time. And if you watched the 2 other guys and him run that he tied with, LMJ was by far the slowest guy to start off with in the 40, but easily was the fastest guy near the end. And as I pointed out yesterday, a 10.49 100 dash time is hardly slow for a CFB player. However if you really wish to see just some of the players speed that we have(for next year and the future of Oregon) then check this out...
Oregon's fast players with the teams of Oregon's future...
(And I am not counting any team doing inaccurate stop watch "hand times".)
RFr,WR Tacoi Sumler was apparently timed at 4.24 in the 40 at Nike, and was rumored to be the fastest freshman football player in the country.
DAT: A standout track star, he ran the fastest 200 meters by a prep in the nation last spring, clocking 20.61 seconds … Won the 100 meters at the CIF Los Angeles Section meet with a time of 10.57 seconds.
The ducks also have RB Thomas Tyner committed for 2013. With a 10.35 100 meter time and already weighing 200lbs+ as a Junior.
Incoming true Freshman RB Byron run, he is fast 10.6 100M and he likes contact and can cut.
For reference only: L.M.James 10.49
Tyner 10.35 (commit for 2013, a junior and already weighing 200lbs.)
Sumler 10.49 (4.24 40m timed at nike camp during high school)
DAT is 10.57 (was his high school time in 100m) (at UO he has been laser clocked at 4.29 in the 40m)
Marshall 10.67
French 10.68 (This is impressive for his size at 6’6 240lbs)
Huff 10.71
Barner in 10.87
Blackmon 110M Hurdle 13.88 (World Record is 12.87)
Dior Mathis (CB, speedster, runs track)(no current times...)
B.J. Kelley (wr, speedster, runs track)(no current times...)
Looking to 2013 (Thomas Tyner, 10.35 100M at 200lbs+) This is on par with Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson.
Plenty of speed there.

Learn to read retard... I was responding to a guy that said, "Your track stars suck" and "that is suppose to show off their "track speed" they are slower..."
So you need to get a clue retard. The guy was commenting on "Oregon's lack of speed" and "track speed" and even more this thread is about track times of a Oregon player. So how again was I deflecting by responding to his direct context?

Your conf blows. It's easy to have a top 5 offense when you're in a league with no defense. As if y'all would've been in 3 BCS games in a row had your conf not blown.

I was not the guy that came up with this thread dumbass. And I never once defended that silly assertion of LMJ going to get a 4.2. IN fact, I chuckled when I read it. And when I did enter this thread, if you go back in this thread and read, I said just as much.
So learn to attack the correct poster. But because you now mention it with you claiming, "no one on our team runs a 4.2 ..." as I quoted you up above, that would be incorrect retard. DAT on our team runs a 4.29 (40) and it was laser timed. I pasted as much a few posts up above in my long list moron. And LMJ was never our fastest player dipshit. And I never once claimed he was. So bite me dumbass. And learn to attack the correct guy and learn to read better and quit making assumptions dumbass.

Laser timing still has an error factor of .1-.15. Does it matter though cause I have seen that guy turn a corner like a F-16. The Black Mamba is a fast hombre.

bullshite. I could say the same thing about you. It is easy to be a top 5 Defense when you're in a league with no Offense.
And the Conference that "blows" has beat your Conference more in recent times head to head- since the BCS era started btw.
BCS era started in 1998. Did not meet in'98,'99.

From the Modern Football Era(the BCS)the PAC has won 12 vs 11 SEC.
Also one can see the PAC is 14-8-1 against the spread vs the SEC.
Head2head- The SEC has been hardly superior to the PAC.

Wow a little insulted huh?
I never said he sucked. I said he was overrated because of poor technique and being caught out of position. You said he was a poor tackler, which is part of his technique issues. The lack of position discipline also got him beat, not because he lacks quick hips or "foot" speed. He can be a first team all-american and still be overrated.
Can he play in the NFL, maybe, IDK. Was he overrated as a DB, yes.
