Lack of Competition in the AFC

I think another reason the NFL is struggling with ratings is that the AFC is horribly predictable. Since 2001, only two franchises not qb'd by Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger have made the SB. Two. (Raiders SB 37, Ravens SB 47)
During that same period, 12 of the 16 NFC franchises have gone to the big game.
At what point does the league put a fire under the other AFC franchises to step up their game?

What exactly do you want them to do?
ETA parity hurts ratings btw

Two of those QBs you mentioned are top 5 and arguably top 3 QBs that were in their prime during that time frame with other being a very very good QB in his own right. What are other teams supposed to do? You think they’ve liked Brady and Manning winning everythingthe past decade?

I feel for the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills fans. It's been a long 17 years.

Start with a realignment? Get rid of playing teams twice?

You gonna realign the league every time there's a dominate team?

Would make tie breakers confusing as hell

But I was told there was parity

NFL has zero problems with Peyton, Brady or the Steelers winning the AFC every year

Bingo. Check out the officiating

Casuals want to see big names and popular teams.

So the AFC had 2 of the top 5 QBs all time, yet that means lack of competition???? I think it is a testament to how great those QBs were.

Historically ratings are better when there is a dynasty type team vs new teams every year.

Meaning what? Shift the lack of competition from one conference to the other? Ben and Brady are 7-2 in Super Bowls. Not like the NFC has drawn even with those two.

The Steelers run the most stable sports franchise over the past ~50 years.
The Steelers have had exactly 3 head coaches since 1969 - 3 coaches for 742 games - almost 250 games per coach.
That's an extraordinary commitment to both excellence and stability and it's paid off - 8 losing seasons since 1969 - 6 Superbowl wins, all three coaches have 8 or 9 divisional championships.
And this was a team that was a laughing stock of the old NFL.

LOL because 2 of the greatest QBs of all time in the most QB friendly era ever, along with a HOF in Big Ben, lived up to the hype?
I really don't get your point. Let's go back 20 years from your arbitrary time line. From 82-97 only 6 nfc franchises made the SB: SF, Washington, Chicago, NY, Dallas, GB. That's just 1 more than the AFC in your example.

A change at the top would be nice. The NE, Pittsburgh reign is very, very old for everyone not in those two fanbases.

Steelers? Last year was the first time they made the AFC championship in 5 seasons. They have been successful for sure but it ain't like they are dominating every year. They are similar to Washington in the 80s/early 90s.
And like I said this isn't new in football. For years it was Dallas vs San Fransisco damn near every year.

They may not have had the same playoff success but they have only had one season with a losing record once since 2000.

throw in Buffalo with 4 straight Super Bowl appearances as well around that time.
