I don’t understand half the shite they’re saying..

I had to scroll to where they started explaining the abbreviations. Looks like they’re talking about pilot visual field of views and instrument assisted terrain tech when in low visibility conditions.

Sounds like you aren’t supposed to be ducking below cloud coverage and you’re supposed to rapidly ascend, call in, and get approved to re-route or some shite like that.

Sounds like a pilot frickup.

Someone else posted having been flying at 11am and conditions were shite in the area.

So. An unnecessary tragedy.

exactly. From my understanding reading that post, you are supposed to ascend rapidly out of cloud cover so you can visually see what is in front of you. Flying between the clouds and the ground is dangerous because you run the risk of quickly flying into cloud cover and running into something before you can ascend

4:30 PM PT -- L.A. weather was extremely foggy Sunday morning, and law enforcement sources tell us even LAPD air support was grounded because of it. Flight tracker data shows Kobe's chopper appeared to first encounter weather issues as it was above the L.A. Zoo. It circled that area at least 6 times at a very low altitude -- around 875 feet -- perhaps waiting for the fog to clear. FLIGHT TOWER AUDIO We know the pilot contacted the control tower at Burbank Airport around 9:30 AM PT, and the tower was aware the pilot had been circling for about 15 minutes. The pilot eventually headed north along the 118 freeway before turning to the west, and started following above the 101 freeway around Woodland Hills, CA. At around 9:40 AM they encounter more weather -- as in seriously heavy fog -- and the chopper turned south. This was critical, because they turned toward a mountainous area. The pilot suddenly and rapidly climbed from about 1200 feet up to 2000 feet. However, moments later -- around 9:45 AM -- they flew into a mountain at 1700 feet. Flight tracker data shows they were flying at about 161 knots.

Sounds like it. How can you own a Heli and not have a trusted pilot

Not trying to bring up Trump but when he flew he always had that same pilot

Staying up the above the clouds instead of below it sounds pretty rudimentary as well....

The reddit thread with all the heli guys said this pilot was either extremely cocky to a fault, or extremely inexperienced to a fault if it wasn’t equipment failure
